We are writing this post about the current situation between Pinkertown and the Holy Jaded Empire

We settled on a small piece of land more than 4 months ago that we did not realize was part of the HJE's claims

We constructed a vault at this location and started making our town around it, with our goal being to make a small trading town

We eventually got into contact with the HJE and they informed us about the land claims, so we initially struck a deal with them to buy the land we had built on

After that deal was made we became very inactive and had not logged in for months

When we came back on today they arrived at our vault and immediately pearled our citizen RasionRulings, he did not attempt to fight anyone and no warning was given.

After that they demanded we leave immediately and were uninterested in my offers to re-strike a land purchase agreement

I proposed to Nickyd614 that we would deconstruct our buildings and vault if he would give us 24 hours to move all of our stuff, including that he frees our citizen first.

I felt that I was offering them exactly what they wanted, for us to leave and remove our stuff, with the condition they give us a short amount of time and free our innocent citizen.

It is clear to me that Nickyd and his friends have no intention of taking a peaceful deal, they refuse to free our citizen despite my efforts to peacefully resolve the problem.

We are now in a situation where we are held up in our vault with a citizen pearled. We do NOT want any type of conflict and are just trying to leave the area in light of HJE's sudden threats.

We want to shed light on these unfolding events and ask for any help from the community to get this situation resolved without more conflict.

HJE seems to only want to fight us and our goal is to simply have our citizen freed so we can move out peacefully. Again, we have been here for months and this is not anything new to them, we did nothing to provoke the recent issue and were not contacted beforehand to work out a solution.

Currently we our under attack they are skybridging towards us, x: -6400 z: 1900.

Update: we were forced to flee into MTA land, the HJE attackers chased and attacked us. We are currently being log boxed in MTA. We had no choice but to destroy our factories and most of our belongings to avoid HJE seizing them. We hope that this unnecessary aggression does not go un-noticed after we attempted to peacefully resolve this problem.

Regarding Pinkertown

Early on in the map I formed a group called "Westeros", originally at 0,0 we moved our main operations to be centered around -8k 0 after Saren and friends caused a bunch of problems for us. When we got to this location we found a very great spot with two jungles, a big desert, forest biome, plains, mesa all around us. This ideal location for XP production made Saren's fuckery sort of a blessing in disguise.

First we set up bunkers, dug ghetto ass rail tunnels connecting our farms, built compactors and got to work. We set up our newfriends at a location in the desert at -8000, 0 called "Cyrene". TerminusRob and his wife set up a town on a nearby savannah biome island called Milltown with a nice little church, farms and a plantation style home. Baes got bored and started a new settlement just north of Cyrene called New Cyrene. XODOJ, Baes' friend, built a town to the far south of our claims called Akkadia.

You may wonder why I am telling you all of this, why I am explaining my entire story of my beginnings this iteration well it is to make a point: our claims were well attested. It was common knowledge that the land there was Westeros, then Holy Jaded Empire once Westeros and its assets were absorbed into a new country.

To everyone looking to form a new nation on this server - it is your responsibility to do minimal information gathering on what claims are where and ask on the subreddit "does X-nation still exist/use this land?".

When we found out these guys had showed up the vault had been built seemingly overnight and Pinkertown was built right over where Akkadia used to be. When I asked what happened to Akkadia, they admitted to removing it. When I inquired as to who these people were one of them said they played 1.0 but were vague as to their affiliations on that map. All that remains of Akkadia is the ruined remains of a bridge crossing the river. Mind you this was all during the height of the recent war, so a group of random people building a vault in my group's land who aren't forthcoming with their true identities and affiliations was quite worrisome and continues to be. I've also seen some interesting traffic passing by that vault making me wonder even further what the intentions of it truly are.

After an initial back and forth (in which we asked them to leave) the solution I came to a couple months ago was one of minimal conflict where they would purchase the land and pay reps for Akkadia, however they never paid us and went inactive. I tried messaging them on Discord and they never responded. They seemingly went inactive, so when I saw one of them online hitting snitches around the vault I gave the order to Baes to pearl one of them. This had the intended effect of getting the rest of them online and giving us leverage as I didn't see asking them nicely to leave as necessarily ending conclusively. This course of action was not one that was decided upon today, we've been discussing the Pinkertown issue for quite some time, and I did not come to this decision lightly.

The following accounts are wanted by the Holy Jaded Empire for building an illegal military installation in our territory and the destruction of Akkadia:

  • Madillson

  • Cgragg01

  • Michhh

The conflict will be resolved if all of the following points are met:

  • The illegally constructed vault in our claims is removed immediately

  • Reparations are paid to Baes20, XODOJ and the government of the Holy Jaded Empire

  • The above mentioned people turn their pearls in to the Holy Jaded Empire for a sentence of two weeks exile pearled, if they are caught without turning themselves in the sentence will be harsher.

  • Their friend RasionRulings will remain pearled until they turn themselves in at which point his sentence will begin.

At the end of the day, this group of people settled in our land without our permission, built a vault, and razed a town. I do not think they are bad guys, but I would like them to answer for their crimes. If they are compliant with what I ask of them I will be more lenient.

On a side note I must say that I find it interesting once people heard that a vault was being attacked their ears perked up and they were drawn to it like sharks to blood. Some found the prospect of a vault being broken as interesting and came to watch or stand right across the river in land MtA claims, while others are jumping on the opportunity to attempt to discredit the Holy Jaded Empire. I also have to wonder whether people would have cared as much if a vault wasn't involved. Let me make this clear - this is an internal matter of the Holy Jaded Empire regarding our territorial integrity and a possible threat to our security. This has been a topic of discussion in HJE for some time now and the decision to move against an illegally built vault in our land is our right.

In light of all the recent statements made about the conflict that occurred last night between Pinkertown and HJE we want to clarify and further support some of our points.

When we first logged in we were almost immediately greeted with our citizen, RasionRulings, being pearled. Nothing was done on our part to provoke this action. Once again, we have been living here for more than 4 months. There was NO effort made by HJE to message us when we logged in to express their new desire to have us remove our town and vault.

After Rasion was pearled we immediately contacted them in a calm way, attempting to understand the situation. We offered them a reasonable deal that would be fair for both sides. We wanted 24 hours to fully deconstruct and move our belongings, and our citizen to be unpearled. Our attempt to make a peaceful offer for us to leave the area was met with silence and even the notion that they only cared about pvping us.

They did eventually offer us a 2 hour maximum time limit to deconstruct our entire vault and town AND relocate all of our belongings, with RasionRulings remaining pearled. This was not reasonable or feasible for us to relocate in that time limit. During these attempted talks, they were actively skybridging our vault and clearly had no intention of letting us leave without being killed.

We finally had no choice but to burn most of our materials and factories. Eventually we were able to escape our vault and run to nearby MTA. We were chased, attacked, and log boxed. They demand we leave, demand we deconstruct, but make no reasonable effort to let us do that. We made multiple attempts to remedy this situation in a fair way.

Lastly, HJE's idea that they could not free our citizen before we deconstructed our vault because we presented a threat with him freed is absurd. We are a 4-man town. We did not make ANY attempts to start a conflict last night.

We were the only party that seemed willing to act rationally in order to de-escalate the situation.

Pinkertown will NOT comply with the demands of the HJE to turn in our citizen's pearls. We already tried to be cooperative with HJE and that went terribly for us. We will, however, uphold the original offer that we made so that nobody is pearled and everyone exits this scenario with their wishes granted. Release our citizen and give us 24 hours to move all of our belongings.

A Mostly Neutral Series of Events in the Pinkertown Debacle

Here comes the historian, by and through Reddit, to deliver you the most neutral series of events in Pinkertown as pieced together through chat logs of having seen the expulsion from their town live as it happened in chat and through an amalgamation of contradictory statements on Reddit.

This is not attempting to tell you who is in the right or wrong, who did the right thing or the wrong thing, who broke law or enforced it; this is simply telling the series of events as-is, fair for all sides where possible.

##Day One

  1. About a month ago, HJE discovers a town on their border. At this time, they may or may not already have a vault built. HJE negotiates and comes to an agreement: Deliver a stack of compacted saplings to buy the land from them without fuss, or move out.^[1]
  2. A month passes, and no progress has been made on the payment of the land purchasing fee or moving out of the land. At this point, the vault certainly exists with an accompanying skybunker, bastions, and vaulthole.
  3. HJE pearls RasionRulings—a Pinkertown native—after he logs in, whom madillson—the closest to a leader/representative yet found for Pinkerton—claims is their most active person. This was done because Pinkertown has not completed their end of the deal.
  4. The rest of Pinkertown logs in after hearing he is pearled, and a dialogue between them and ComradeNick begins. Note that it is unknown at this moment whether it was long-distance, i.e., Nick wasn't actually near them but just in chat range, or if he was there in person for the conversation.
  5. Madillson begins an argument with ComradeNick over their land and claims that they shouldn't have to move; supposedly, MtA told them it was unclaimed land and even "MtA's leader" told them so, so they had no reason to expect it was owned and no malicious intent. Arguments are also made about how pearling them is unnecessary and that "pearling someone on site its an act of war [sic]"
  6. At this point, they begin asking how long they get to pack up and move out. Madillson asks for a few days, Nick replies to the effect of no, you don't need a couple days, there's not that much even there. Madillson replies that they underestimate how much they've built and that it takes time, especially with their most active guy pearled. RasionRulings says "yes lets ctb our diamonds infront of all the pvp kiddos". Nick tells them at most it'd take a few hours for one guy, one and a half if multiple pitch in. An HJE player confirms so by saying (s)he's done the calculations and spitting hot numbers. Madillson counters by saying they can't be expected to stay up all night for mineman and a fellow townsperson asks for twenty four hours for them to figure out where they can move their belongings to so it isn't sitting in the wild waiting to be stolen and to move it—if anything is left after twenty four hours, HJE can do their thing.
  7. The offer is seemingly not acknowledged in chat. At this point, someone says "oof", RasionRulings begins making banter about PvP and getting off our land, and Baes20 seems to start talking. The value of this is unknown, but it feels like it might be pertinent if understood.
  8. At this point, HenryDraton tells Pinkertown in global chat that HJE is coming to pearl them and to run south and cross the river to seek shelter in Mount Augusta. Madillson declines, saying they can protect themselves, and turtle up in their skybunker. A lengthy siege begins.
  9. At some point, the defenders abandon their skybunker as HJE makes progress towards them and begin to flee across the river to seek shelter as things begin to go south for them. HJE pursues.^[2]
  10. The fleeing Pinkertown residents log off in MtA to avoid HJE pearling them; they are logboxed, one of them on the property of Isit2004. This will become relevant later.
  11. Depending on accounts, ComradeNick is told that logboxing is not allowed either while building the log boxes or after they are built. Either way, after finding out, Ahri, the HJE diplomat, goes around and removes the log boxes.^[3]

This concludes the events of the Pinkertown Siege itself on May 19, though more actions happen as the next day progresses.

##Day Two

  1. Disputes about whether the log boxes are still there continue throughout the night and morning between May 19 and May 20 (CDT, UTC -5:00). Eventually, it is resolved that none are left, though confusion will continue throughout the day as people log in and aren't fully aware of the drama.
  2. HenryDraton continues to lobby for the freedom of the Pinkerton residents so long as they are in MtA land; other offers of help are also extended, including an offer for pro bono legal help by TheHobbyist on the basis that he does not want to see MtA's constitution trampled over because of drama.
  3. HJE fighters continuously camp out the logout spots throughout the day after logboxes are removed, including Ez2clutch camping the logout spot on Isit2004's property in case the Pinkertownian logs back in.
  4. An unknown party, presumably HenryDraton, contacts some Yoahtlans—chiefly bbgba—and tells him of the situation. This is presumed to be HenryDraton for the following reason: Hours before bgbba actually says anything about the situation, HenryDraton tells Nick that "Yoahtl is pissed at them."
  5. Bgbba arrives in voice and issues a statement to the effect of Yoahtl being upset. Reasons given include a logbox being built on the property of Isit2004, a Yoahtlan ex-pat, on a park dedicated to the founder of Yoahtl, and the involvement of GeneralThomas, whom Yoahtl has claims on. This begins the involvement of bgbba as an individual party.
  6. Throughout the day, a bunch of protests happen on the border. At one point, bgbba crosses the river and insists he's here with Pinkertown's permission and returns to MtA's side after being told to desist.
  7. Ez2clutch builds a second wooden logbox on Isit2004's property, unreinforced, which HenryDraton promptly removes.
  8. The pink banner protest begins. Some Augustans amass on the border along with bgbba wearing pink banners in solidarity with Pinkertown to protest the HJE occupation.
  9. Bgbba crosses the river on a bridge during the protests. Vague statements to leave are made, such as "out out out." His presence is mostly tolerated, however, and he protests on their side of the river while building with pink wool. His tolerated presence on their side lasts for about twenty seconds before he returns to the bridgehead. Almost immediately on making contact with the bridgehead, bgbba makes a break for the Pinkertown vault hole. At this point, after bgbba begins to run deeper into HJE territory, HJE pursues. He stands at the vault hole for about ten seconds as HJE stares at him before combat begins. He is then pearled.^[4]
  10. After bgbba is pearled, a bunch of irrelevant and rapid drama happens. The climax and ultimate result of this is a long Reddit post by bgbba and a declaration by OrangeWizard that Yoahtl will tolerate his sentence as exists, but if it is extended, it will be seen as an act of war given the current circumstances.^[5][6]
  11. A few more protests continue throughout the night, but the majority of the drama dies as the late hours hit.

This is the Pinkertown Decable as known up to now; footnotes below for elaboration and sources. Again, this is not telling you who is right, who is wrong, just what the events are as neutrally as possible. You can figure that out for yourself.

This has been the diary of an amateur lumberjack in MtA.

[1] Varying opinions exist on why this price was done. Some believe it was done to sound easy to do but in practice be near impossible; others believe it was priced this way simply because it's XP ingredients HJE may have wanted and was something reasonably attainable by newfriends.

[2] It is unknown if they immediately pursued the Pinkertown residents or if they chased them after a few minutes to an hour after escaping across the river.

[3] It is disputed as to whether ComradeNick truly did not know or if he simply feigned ignorance after seeing people were serious about not allowing the logboxes in MtA and did not want to be in conflict with them.
