Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:

📂 Minimize allocations in Go

A collection of tips for when you need to minimize the number of allocations in your Go programs.

Use the go profiler to identify which parts of your program are responsible for most allocations.

⚠️ Never apply these tricks blindly (i.e. without measuring the actual performance benefit/impact). Most of these tricks cause a tradeoff between reducing memory allocations and other aspects (including e.g. higher peak memory usage, higher CPU usage, lower maintainability, higher probability of introducing subtle bugs). Only apply these tricks if the tradeoff in every specfic case is globally positive.

Simple Raspberry Pi GPIO example

Introduction

This is a dead-simple way to test that GPIO on the Raspberry Pi is working. I have an SKPang Raspberry Pi starter kit A. But all you need is

  • A Raspberry Pi.
  • An LED.
  • A button.
  • A resistor, approximately 270Ω.
  • Some way to connect these to each other and the GPIO pins.

NixOS: PCI Passthrough

PCI Passthrough

Warning: unfinished (but successfull!)

I did PCI passthrough on Archlinux and Debian with the old PCI-stub method (this was pre-4.0 era). And later I did PCI passthrough on the 4.1+ kernels on Arch and Ubuntu (16.10 I think?).

This is my attempt at doing the same on Nixos.
