Any thoughts on how best to quantitatively classify the periods of lanthanides and actinides?
Hi! Thanks so much for making this resource available. Under which license is this CSV file published? I would love to use it in a lesson I'm preparing for a nanotech honours class about data skills which I'd like to make available under CC-BY license. I'd also like to to give proper recognition to the author. The license isn't obvious from this repo?
Thanks!
Anelda
Thanks for this. I made some corrections (mostly in the Types column) at https://gist.github.com/robertwb/22aa4dbfb6bcecd94f2176caa912b952
I've created a dashboard using R and this CSV file with acknowledgment of this data source. The Dashboard is here - https://rpubs.com/anelda/periodic-table-R with the github repository at https://github.com/anelda/showcaseR-periodic-table.
I think the type of some lines might have moved by accident:
Astatine is a halogen, radon a noble gas and francium and radium alkali and alkaline earth metals respectively.
Best regards
Oh, and i think polonium is a metal actually
There is a bug between Astatine and Radium where the Type
is shifted by one place. Astatine should be a Halogen, Radon a Noble Gas, Francium an Alkali Metal, etc.
Thanks for creating this!
How can I download this
Thank you for putting this csv together. I've made a python dictionary from this csv that's stored in a pickled file as well as isotope data taken from the JEFF 3.3 database.
https://github.com/BenPalmer1983/atomic_dictionaries
There are numerous mistakes in this file. I can see two immediately: element 74 (W) is generally called Tungsten, and Radon is a noble gas, not a metal.
I would not trust this file.
Yep, Radon is a noble gas. And Astatine is a halogene and so on. A few elements types seem to have been switched up as I commented already two years ago.
The first one is sort of right though: The actual name of the element is Wolfram (all shortcuts are derived from latin names - like Aurum for Gold). It is true that in English literature the name Tungsten is a little more common (but still used!) but to say that Wolfram is not an element would be wrong.
I think the table has not been updated lately, sadly.
you should check out @robertwb 's version as posted above: https://gist.github.com/robertwb/22aa4dbfb6bcecd94f2176caa912b952
It fixed these and some more mistakes.
Thank you
In which unit of measurement is the atomic radius given here? I find other values in picometers on wikipedia. Or 'which' atomic radius is given here?
I'm having the same problem. Is it some sort of calculated Bohr value? ...Except I would expect Hydrogen to be close to 1.
Is the unit of measure Angstroms Å?
Has the atomic radius been MEASURED? If yes, by whom?
Has it been CALCULATED? If yes, how?
I soo much would like to know!
Thank You in advance!
Hello!
I've found a few mistakes with the element types. Do double check this as I'm not a chemist!
Astatine & Tennessine should be Halogen
Radon is a Noble gas
Francium is an Alkali metal
Radium is an Alkaline Earth Metal
Where did the electronegativity of thallium (81) being 2.04 come from? WebElements tells me it's 1.62 for Pauling?
Hi,
Beware the lines:
contain spaces within the data and this might be problematic for some usage.
Thanks anyway !
