You can give the script 12, 15, 18, 21, or 24 words and it will run a conversion to the corresponding hex string of 128, 160, 192, 224, or 256 bits (16, 20, 24, 28, or 32 bytes, 32, 40, 48, 56, or 64 hexadecimal characters):
If you leave out one of the words, replacing it with a
_, the script tries all 2048 words of the BIP39 word list if they result in a correct checksum:If you have a typo in your words, they are reported and treated as unknown words:
Although the script in principle works with an arbitrary number of unknown words, it becomes already quite infeasible with two missing words.
The standard output of the script can be redirected to a file that will then only contain the seed phrases and their corresponding hex strings, while the warning, error, and status messages go to stderr and will not end up in the file.
