Steam, Epic, MS Store and Xbox One/Series. On MS Store and Xbox, there are additional rewards for GamePass subscribers. There are occassionally first log-in bonuses for each platform (e.g. Valve-themed cosmetics for Steam users).

Maybe. Currently, the PS4 and the streaming Switch version are both exclusive to the Japanese region servers. This FAQ does not cover that region of the game.
Just start the game and pick a Ship. Your account is tied to the platform you use.
Logging in with any of the platforms will prompt you to either use a Link Code to link your account to another platform, or continue without linking. You will not get another chance to use a Link Code, so make sure you do it immediately. To generate the Link Code, log in on your previous platform, and select the option at the Character Select to link accounts.
It's less of an issue than it was before, but it can still break. Before, the game updated itself with its launcher, which is generally problematic for Store applications. Now, all of the Global platforms update through their respective systems, so they are much less prone to corruption issues than before.
If you download the game, and then purchase any of the packs that "include" the game, the Store may move your entire game to another directory and "reinstall" it by moving it back. This happens silently in the background and will cause a lot of disk thrashing. If it fails, it may leave the install in that hidden directory as a duplicate. If you end up buying anything this way, please just leave the computer running and leave it alone for a while. It will eventually correct itself.
PSO2 Global only support XInput controllers, so please use DS4Windows to convert your controllers to XInput.
Discord says I can't use Push-to-Talk or capture game audio for video streaming while PSO2:NGS is running. How do I fix that?
You need to run Discord as Administrator, because PSO2's anticheat, GameGuard, needs to run as Administrator. This will prevent drag-n-drop uploads from working until Discord is restarted.
PSO2's Ships are distinct servers. You must be on the same Ship to play the game together. In PSO2 Classic, there is a Universal Ship for Challenge and Battle Mode, where players from other Ships can play those modes together, but that is the only cross-ship play available.
You need to be on the same Block to be able to play together. Use any Ryuker Device to change Blocks, or select them on your Friends List or Alliance Member List to instantly change to their Block.
Blocks are server instances within a Ship. Players on the same Block will see eachother. Advance the story enough to get access to the Ryuker Device in order to change Blocks.
I entered a section (e.g. North Aelio) and ended up in a different Room instance from my party. How do I make sure I'm in the same Room as my party?
The server will normally make a best effort to put your party in the same Room; your party members will be designated as "Subleaders" if they are not in the same Room as the Leader. You can instead use the Ryuker Device to teleport to a specific Room that has enough space for your party to enter, and then use the Ryuker Device to call your other party members to the same Room instantly.
An Alliance Officer or Leader must send you an Alliance Scouting Request ("Scout Member" menu option). Seek the Alliance Counter in Central City or in the PSO2 Classic Lobby's Gate Area to create an Alliance.
There is a dropdown above the chat text entry box to select a target channel. You can also use /p, /t, /g respectively for Party, Alliance, and Group.
To Whisper another player, you need to select them from the Nearby Players window, your Friend List, the Alliance Member List, the ARKS Search, or clicking on them on-screen while in the menu.
These features are in PSO2 Classic and have not been made available in NGS yet.
Battle Mode in Classic is not available in NGS yet. However, Classic Battle Mode is worth playing for the weekly Star Gem rewards and seasonal rank rewards.
Functionally no. The Rappy pack includes some materials for upgrading weapons, but these are obtainable on a daily timer by gathering across the map. Everything else purchasable is cosmetic or for convenience.
PSO2 Tweaker is an (optional) third party launcher and updater for all regions of the game. It allows you to manage multiple installations of the game, convert Global installs between the 3 platforms easily, and troubleshoot common issues. It is maintained by Aida Enna at Arks-Layer and has been actively maintained since PSO2's launch in 2012. It is not supported by SEGA, but you will not be banned for using it. https://arks-layer.com
If you install the Steam version of PSO2 NGS with Tweaker, please make sure to keep it separate from your other Steam games. Do not install the game in Steam; let Tweaker fully manage a separate install for it. You will still need Steam running to play.
Currently on Steam you must fully install PSO2 Classic in addition to NGS. The complete install is about 90 gigabytes. This may change in the future.
When I launch the game in Steam, I see an error: "An update for the game file has been detected. Restarting application. Please do not cancel when checking the consistency."
- Press Win+R to open the Run dialog
- Run %LocalAppData%
- Create a directory SEGA if it doesn't exist yet. Open it.
- Create a directory PHANTASYSTARONLINE2_NA_STEAM if it doesn't exist yet. Open it.
- Create a file name steamupdate.txt by right clicking > New > Text Document
- Open it in Notepad
- Put the text v70000_rc_135
Voila. Your launcher will work again. Repeat these steps if it breaks.

When I launch the Steam version in Tweaker after updating it with Tweaker, I get an error about pso2bridge.dll
Please update Tweaker and check for updates again; there was a bug in the Tweaker updater.
For Tweaker issues, please direct support questions to the #en-tech-support channel in the Phantasy Star Fleet Discord server. Otherwise, SEGA staff monitor the Support category of the official forums, so consider asking there., or you can ask in the stickied Q&A thread on the community subreddit.
