These are my takeaways from the Patch notes and so some things may be missing or my own commentary added typically as a sub-bullet point
- Reason for the increase was basically inflation, "[prices/currencies/services] are rising" and Twitch has stayed the same since 2011
- Reiterates that streamers will earn more and "[Twitch] is not pocketing the [changes]"
- Expects no negative effects towards revenue or partner plus eligibility
- Claimed that the previous price updates back in Spring 2024 in select regions showed positive results
- Verified that streamers will earn money from users watching via Twitch Turbo
- CEO later spoke about this and mentioned specifically statistics that turbo users are more engaged in Twitch
- "Turbo users have 20% more subs than the average [subscriber], 2x more than average"
- You can now (re-)edit clips
- Retrimming, layout changing, title changing, etc
- You can now modify clips to be vertical or horizontal
- Clips manager will now allow you to sort clips by whether or not it was published/"saved"
- New way for streamers to monitize streams by allowing viewers to purchase "power ups" for bits
- Message highlighting
- Message theme/background in chat
- Essentially highlighting your message but themed with an effect
- On-screen celebrations
- Spams a specific Twitch emote overlay onto the stream
- Gigantify an emote
- Sends a large emote in chat
- Streamers can reprice the power ups or use the suggested pricing
- Streamers will earn 100% of the revenue
- Twitch Sings won't be coming back citing the licensing costs
- Will you be giving [streamers] more emote to make it worth someone paying more? No [the price is increasing] but value proposition will stay the same
- Although they mention they have increased it already prior to the increase
- Subtember plans? They say they won't reduce the price to prior sub pricing as a part of Subtember and they will announce it soon, and that Subtember is funded by Twitch
- No plans for Prime or gifted subs to count for Partner Plus Program
- There was another question that sounded like someone asking if they could cancel their current renewal and renew again
- No plans to reverting the Twitch mobile app changes (I assume the new TikTok inspired layout)
- They will consider adding the ability to change the category on Twitch Clips
- Twitch CEO said they are "investing in [Twitch] clips"
