Brinkie Pie

Of Love and Tolerance (how I became a brony)

I used to be a jerk, but I decided that that needs to change. I decided to become a better person roughly when the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic aka. "MLP:FiM" (that's the 4th generation of MLP) started. So I was in a phase where I tried to live by the motto:

Be the person your dog thinks you are

While browsing the internet, ca 2 weeks before the beginning of season 2, I found a blog post about MLP:FiM. It's the first time I heard about that hype, and considered it both fascinating and odd that adults like the show0… so I decided to give it a try! On the one hand, I wanted to see what the fuzz is about, on the other I wanted to test myself, to see if I hold up to my standards. When I watched it, I was FASCINATED by the message it conveys. Love and tolerance… it's basically brainwashing people into what I want others to be… into how I want me to be. So I became a brony, and I still love the way this community was founded on ponies (i.e. people) actually caring, actually striving for the better, actually wanting to be good people. Sadly, as the years passed by, the show got more popular, with thousands of fans it became less nerd-only and the entry barrier got lower and lower… in the end, the community became full of ponies who don't even give a damn about love and tolerance. You know, the average "I bang ur mom" Call Of Duty kids. It's really sad to see where this community is heading, and I am very upset with the show not conveying the same message anymore, but rather trying to be an entertaining cartoon. (💥 EXPLOSIONS! 💥)

In the end, I am still here, trying my best to be a role model, spreading love and tolerance, trying to improve the room, getting yelled at by ignorant people because they refuse to acknowledge that I try to help, by ignorant people who can't take any constructive criticism and solve personal issues by banning others.

Update 2018: seems like the show turned around and managed to find a good compromise between enterntainment and teaching lessons. It doesn't focus on regular lessons (or letters to the princess) anymore, but it still has the spirit. I still believe the fandom's quality degraded over time, but there's still a lot of fun.

So there's that. What's your story? =)
