mod 2 - Using your Strengths as a Team Member

  • Describe how you use your strengths in teams

  • Describe how you might adapt your strengths according to team dynamics

  • Discuss how to leverage each others' strengths to work even more effectively in your project

  • How have you changed since you started at Turing?

    • Not a ton. I’ve tried to be comfortable with who I am and how I’m different. I’m slowly starting to not really care what other people think about me.
  • How have your strengths helped you in that process?

    • By being able to confirm the positive things about who I am and why it’s OK to be who I am.
  • How do you feel like you have used your strengths when you’ve paired with others?

    • I try to make sure everybody feels included. I try to contribute ideas that are exciting to the whole team. I try to validate others and be open to learning from others.
  • How could you utilize these strengths more?

    • At the current moment, I’m not sure. I think I’m doing pretty good work but I always learn something new as time progresses.
  • What gets in your way or keeps you from fully using your strengths?

    • My coding skill (or lack thereof, sometimes)
  • What do you want to get better at by the end of Mod 2?

    • Being able to write a simple and complete Rails app on my own without any help.
    • Including
      • Setting up Spec
      • Setting up database cleaner for testing
      • Writing good tests
      • Excellent usage of MVC
      • Ability to do the bare essentials easily and by heart
  • What things do you want to do in mod 3?

    • Be able to add new tools to what I’ve already learned
    • Start looking for jobs that require the same skills I possess
    • Fine tune skills that would make me more employable
    • Start looking for a job
