My design portfolio (for Andy Matuschak)

Hi Andy!

I'm a software engineer professionally, but I have a few things that convey a sense of my design tastes and skills:

YouTube

The first is my YouTube channel, where I'm experimenting with animated educational videos and streams.

  • Here's a video I made about the Kelly Criterion.
    • You might watch this to get a sense for how I design explanations.
  • Here's a video I made to explain NALS (Networked ADHD Learning Streams) - my current project. It's kind of long (30 min) so I recommend just skimming the powerpoint.
    • You might watch this to get a sense for how I approach "tools for thought" projects.

My Personal Site (where you'll find writing samples)

The second is my personal site. The site design is not mine, so it isn't a good evaluation of my web design skills, but it is a good sense of

  • my web design tastes
  • my writing style
  • my personality

In particular, you'll find

Substack (more writing samples)

I also dabbled in substacks.

Figma

I include this section primarily to demonstrate that I have some proficiency in Figma. I consider the following design to be fairly ugly and uninterpretable. However, it's highly relevant to building tools for thought, so I thought I'd include it:

My design for building a community knowledge graph. I'm very open to walking you through it and chatting about it!
