You’re lying.
No, that’s an empirical fact. Your skin conductivity just went up 13 percent.
Your eye saccades increased by 24. And you don’t want to get into your vocal stress harmonics.
You may think you sound pretty solid, but believe me: In the upper registers you’re squealing like a little girl.
I can tell stuff like that now. It’s not the augments—it’s not just the augments.
I’m not reading numbers off a tactical overlay or anything, it’s more—integrated.
I just know this shit. I know a lot of things I’m not supposed to.
Crysis: Legion, PROPHECY
My vision fuzzes and clicks into a kind of high-def crystalline focus that doesn’t quite seem real,
you know that ultra-high rez you find in raw tactical sims and cheap video games.
Alphanumerics start scrolling up across my field of view, boot sequences and tactical overlays,
but they’re inside me somehow, you know? It looks subjectively like a head-up display
but we’re not talking about your usual HUD: Something’s planting these glyphics directly into my head.
More of a, a Brain-Up Display I guess.
A BUD.

[Alcatraz Injuries/healing]
On the plus side—if you can call it that—I’m not dead.
And according to the medical diagnostics racing across my field of view, I should be.
My back is broken in three places. My larynx is crushed. My femoral artery is torn. There’s more blood in my lungs than air.
The list goes on. Nanosuit 2.0’s rattling off diagnostic and wet-repair capabilities like I’ve never seen outside a full-blown VA hospital—
and while it’s got me rooted in place like a garden gnome, it’s also pumping me full of antibodies and autocatalytic fibrinogen and a
dozen kinds of engineered osteoblasts to knit my bones back together.
All things considered, immobilized in a custom-fitted body cast is not a bad place to be right now.

[Stealth/Thermoneutrality]
Not that we’ve ignored the hardware, mind you.
Our latest offering comes with all the bleeding-edge features you’d expect from CryNet:
radhardened ceramic epidermis, dynamic Faraday mesh for unsurpassed EMP shielding, state-of-the-art countercurrent heat-exchangers for
thermoneutrality in firestorms and LOx spills alike. CryNet remains at the forefront of Moore’s law—and maybe a little bit beyond.
Crysis: Legion, PERFECTION2
But the N2’s got its own comm center, and it’s not only smart enough to decrypt your freqs,
but also smart enough to figure out which specific chatter is mission relevant.
I’m really impressed when it first starts doing that—I had no idea our voice-rec tech was anywhere near that good—
but my waregasm evaporates the moment I realize that you’re all trying to kill me.
Crysis: Legion, ASSAULT AND BATTERY
It takes a moment for that to
sink in. I haven’t worn a cloak
since Annapolis but I know the
tech: fast-fractal pattern-matching,
Bayesian wraparounds. Same basic
thing an octopus does when it
wants to blend in. But this Jackal
doesn’t pack a cloak, and neither
do the ammo and supply clips I’ve
scrounged, and all of that’s just
I almost miss the little shrinking bar
down in the lower-right corner of
my eye, don’t notice it at all until
the whole readout goes red. By the
time I clue in I’m already starting
to cast a shadow. I barely get back
behind the cookie-cutter in time.
The Urinating Soldier hesitates,
looks back over his shoulder.
Grunts. Keeps going.

[SECOND/Chemical regulation]
SANTA’s most truly innovative
feature, however, is its ability
to not only monitor the
physical and emotional states of
the soldier, but to actually
optimize those states for
mission success. SANTA
continuously regulates
dopamine, lactate, and
corticosteroid levels,
