  1. Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells III (1998)

I'm a huge fan of Mike Oldfield, my favorite musician (he is the guy behind the exorcist theme BTW) and I wanted to have him on the image for sure. TB3 is the third part of his tubular saga?. A bit of a controversial album because he moved to the Spanish island of Ibiza, famous for all the night clubs it has, so this album has a clear night club influence. Coming from a guy that used to make a sort of progressive rock, it is baffling. But I love it.

  2. Lindsey Stirling - Shatter Me (2014)

I mean, I think you probably know her already. If not, well, she is a fabulous violinist, composer and dancer! This is her second album, where she performs her signature style of modern violin.

  3. Arjen Anthony Lucassen - Lost in the New Real (2013)

Arjen is one of those guys that only if you are into the depths of the progressive rock iceberg you may know (maybe because he is more known in his band Ayreon). In this concept album he explores the story of Mister L., a guy from the beginning of the XXI Century who is frozen because he had a incurable disease, in hopes of being awaken in a future that can heal him. Eventually he does, and his doctor, Dr. Voight-Kampff (played by Rugter Hauer) guides him on how the world has changed, so he won't be lost in the new real. Imagine the shock of a person from the Victorian era seeing the world today, but with a person from today in the far future.

  4. Ryo (Feat. Hatsune Miku) - Supercell (2009)

Call me a weeb, I don't care. In case you don't know, Hatsune Miku is a voice bank for the voice synthesis software Vocaloid. It is a sort of tradition that the voice banks have anime characters as "embodiments" of the voice itself, and the one for Miku is in the cover. This album features lots of quite famous Vocaloid songs performed by Ryo and his band Supercell, so it is a sort of "Miku essentials" album. I like Vocaloid because I love music and computer sciences, and Vocaloid is the intersection of both.

  5. Deep Forest - World Mix (1992)

Deep Forest is a french project that mixes world music and traditional tunes from around the world with modern music. Some people call them "ethno-electronic". This is their debut album.

  6. 31 Minutos - 31 Minutos (2003)

FYI I am mexican, an all latinamerican millenial/gen z kids grew up watching 31 Minutos (31 Minutes). It is a chilenian kids show about a puppets news program. It had an entertainment section presented by Policarpo Avendaño with songs made by his friends and family, with each episode featuring a "top top top songs of the week". This album (and the subsequent ones) feature all the songs from a season + some snippets from the episodes so all of them have 31 tracks. In the first track we can hear Policarpo and the show host Tulio Triviño making a recurring skit in the show where Policarpo repeats "TOP" uncontrollably, Tulio asks what is happening to him, and Policarpo apologizes for that because because it happens every time something happens related to what just happened, but in an album he says "Oh, it happens every time I launch a new album, Tulio..."

  7. Andreas Vollenweider - Caverna Magica (1982)

Andreas is a Swiss musician who makes a sort of "magical and mystical" music. He mainly plays a custom electro-acustic harp he made. In this album (who's title literally means magic cavern in Spanish) you take a trip with two hikers inside a magic cavern they found. Sit back, close your eyes, and let the music be the one who draws the images on your head.

  8. Diablo Swing Orchestra - The Butcher's Ballroom (2006)

This swedish band mixes swing, metal, prog rock and other stuff to make a truly delirical and devilish music. I swear, if they make a new The Mask movie, they need to make the soundtrack.

  9. Macintosh Plus - Floral Shoppe (2011)

The quintessential Vaporwave album. If you don't know what is that, Vaporwave is a genere that was born in the internet, with no nationality or geographical place of birth. It mocks the consumerist culture and the selling of nostalgia by taking 80's and 90's soft jazz, elevator music and things of similar vein and remixes them in crazy ways. Fuzzy nostalgic memories caught in super slow speed VHS. In a can, for just ¤69.69 virtual dollars.
