Storing your bot token safely

Your bot token is a very crucial piece of information. It must be protected from being leaked at all cost, otherwise a malicious actor may use it to perform disruptive actions as your bot.

Using an env file

An env file is used to store environment variables, which are kept separate for the rest of the code. They are ideal to store tokens, API keys and other kind of sensitive information. Python does not support them natively, so we're going to install a package to make use of them. Type this command in your terminal:

pip install python-dotenv

Per far si che il bot funzioni, conserviamo delle informazioni informazioni relative ai server e agli utenti. La lista sottostante elenca quali informazioni vengono raccolte e perché.

Dati che preserviamo

• ID degli utenti: Li conserviamo per determinare gli autori dei suggerimenti, in modo che il bot mostri chi ha inviato un suggerimento. Sono inoltre conservati per una lista di utenti bloccati, sia a livello globale sia per blocchi nei singoli server.
• ID dei canali: Li conserviamo così che il bot sa dove inviare dei messaggi, ad esempio quelli dei suggerimenti in attesa di revisione, dei suggerimenti approvati, dei suggerimenti respinti e messaggi inerenti ai registri.
• ID dei ruoli: Li conserviamo per permettere agli amministratori dei server di configurare dei ruoli che hanno certi permessi nelle interazioni con il bot (staff, admin, ruoli bloccati, ecc...)
• ID dei server: Li conserviamo per tenere le configurazioni e i suggerimenti legati
