Ukrainian Veteran Fund (@veteranfundua):
"I'm sorry, but your husband died today while storming a building." That's what Yulia Chubasheva, the wife of Alexei Chubashev, heard on the telephone on June 10.
It seemed that people like Alexei could not die. But the assault in Severodonetsk was his last battle.

Alexei was familiar to thousands of our military members. They knew and respected him. Chubashev is known as the author of the Recruit UA program, the former head of Army FM and the Military Television of Ukraine. Alexey was a military journalist by education.

In 2008 he entered the Ivan Bohun Kyiv military lyceum. In 2009, he was a participant in the military parade on the occasion of Independence Day. In 2010, he enrolled in military journalism at the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

His first rotation to the ATO (anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine) area was in 2015. In the same year, he began serving in the Central Television and Radio Studio of the Ministry of Defense, the author and host of Ukraine's first military reality show Recruit. It was thanks to this show that many motivated recruits joined the ranks of our army.

On February 28, 2021, Alexei's second officer's contract with the Armed Forces ended. He did not continue and was transferred to the reserve. After leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he focused on developing his own projects.

With a full-scale Russian invasion, he returned to the army. Brothers say that Chubashev is the only military journalist whom the special forces have taken into their unit. He really knew a lot, could teach a lot, and was fluent in various types of weapons.

On June 14, Kyiv said goodbye to the officer in the House of Officers - it was rainy, the sky was also crying. The officer left behind a wife, a young daughter and a son born in March 2022.

Yulia, Alexei's wife, writes: “We are all crying about Chubashev now, but we must know that he lived his life. His 30 years he truly lived, not just existed. It is important to understand..."

"He had a mission, a vision, dreams, doubts, failures, victories, friends, enemies, goals, love, hate ... and he accepted this life, lived it and was grateful to God for it. I believe that he fulfilled his duty" Our task now is not to waste his sacrifice, as well as many others'..."

"We must live with dignity. We must smile and be happy. We must enjoy our lives, because the best Ukrainians give theirs away," Yulia Chubashev's wife Yulia writes on social networks.

"So let's give ourselves time to cry, and then we will enjoy life, be proud that we are Ukrainians, raise children in love for our country and hate for Russia, develop, pay taxes, keep tabs on who is in power here... " "

"...and not get tired of gathering on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, when someone leads us the wrong way, to speak Ukrainian nightingale [language], love people and love God. Let's be conscious. Let's win this war. And this will be the best gratitude to him... " "

"...It will mean that his mission continues. His cause is alive. He lives on..."

We will remember you, Alexey!

We need to really hear what the officer's wife's saying. To live consciously, stubbornly, with dignity, to be happy (even if being happy now seems something unrealistic). And smile a lot. And definitely win. To keep his memory alive. For Alexei Chubashev to live.
