Ukraine is mourning one of its most prominent civil activists, Roman Ratushniy, who was killed by russian occupants. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he took arms to fight the aggressor. Last week he was captured and shot in gross violation of the international laws.
Roman spent 9 years fighting corruption, injustice and Russian subversion in Ukraine. At the age of 15 he became one of the youngest victims of police brutality during the Maidan Revolution. In 2021, the ECHR upheld his claim, recognizing that his right to peaceful protest had been violated.
In 2019, he launched NGO Protect Protasiv Yar, which fought against illegal construction of 3 high-rise buildings in the recreational zone of Kyiv. As a result of his fearless opposition to construction tycoons, he was persecuted and received several death threats from criminals.

Alexei was familiar to thousands of our military members. They knew and respected him. Chubashev is known as the author of the Recruit UA program, the former head of Army FM and the Military Television of Ukraine. Alexey was a military journalist by education.

КАЖДЫЙ ПО-РАЗНОМУ ОБРАЩАЕТ ВНИМАНИЕ НА (ВОЗДУШНУЮ) ТРЕВОГУ. В «Амсторе» персонал старается выходить, хотя, конечно, не все, многим жарко на улице и не хочется бегать туда-сюда. Часто посетители во время тревоги просили девочек варить им кофе... Говорят, что одна из них сейчас в больнице.
КАЖДУЮ ТРЕВОГУ. КОГДА МОИ КОЛЛЕГИ НЕ ХОТЕЛИ ВЫХОДИТЬ. Я ГОВОРИЛА: «ПРЕДСТАВЬТЕ. ОДНАЖДЫ МЫ ВЫЙДЕМ И ЭТО СПАСЕТ НАМ ЖИЗНЬ». Эта фраза очень мотивировала, и мы все выходили.

Amstor is a quite popular place, with many people. It has around 400 employees, and all of the shops were working. The parking lot was not as empty as seen in the video after the explosion - the cars immediately began to leave (after the attack).
Everyone pays attention to the air raid alarm to a different degree. In Amstor, the staff tries to go out, although, of course, not all of them, many feel it's hot outside and they aren't keen on running back and forth (ed.: there are multiple air raid sirens each day). Often, during an alarm, visitors asked the girls (at a coffee shop) to make coffee for them... They say that one of the baristas is in the hospital.
