/Applications/Adobe Illustrator CC 2017/Presets/en_US/Scripts

en_US could be something else though, depends on your language.

Then on Illustrator itself, you can see it at File > Scripts

When I use this, no JSON file is created. I've tried downloading new script, renaming the illustrator file, rebooting the mac even - still nothing. Any suggestions?

same here.... not JSON file is created.
