Running Minishift with Hawkular Metrics Installed

Introduction

A minishift openshift cluster can be created with cluster metrics installed. Although I couldn't find a way to add metrics to an already created minishift VM instance, the steps below helped to get a new instance up and running easily.

Steps

Step 1 - Initialise minishift with metrics.

Create a fresh minishift VM with an openshift cluster using the below command. The --metrics parameter is the only additional thing I had to provide for minishift to start installing cluster metrics and Hawkular.

 $minishift start —metrics

How to change your commit messages in Git? — First published in fullweb.io issue #55

How to change your commit messages in Git?

At some point you’ll find yourself in a situation where you need edit a commit message. That commit might already be pushed or not, be the most recent or burried below 10 other commits, but fear not, git has your back 🙂.

Not pushed + most recent commit:

git commit --amend

This will open your $EDITOR and let you change the message. Continue with your usual git push origin master.

OpenShift Origin AWS

OpenShift Origin in AWS

This describes deploying and running OpenShift Origin in Amazon Web Services.

This is based upon the code and installer on 2014-02-26 so YMMV.

We will be using a VPC for deployment in us-east-1 and Route53 for DNS. I will leave the VPC setup as an exercise for the reader.

Prerequisites

  • AWS Account
  • VPC
