Hi Omar, | |
Thank you for your interest in the Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Computer Science program.
I would like to make you aware of the degree programs that we offer:
• MS CS (on campus) The next application deadline is February 1 for Fall 2015 matriculation. Admissions applications are due every February 1st for Fall admittance (no summer, or spring admissions). Please visit this link for program information and requirements: http://www.cc.gatech.edu/future/masters/mscs/admissions
• OMS CS (online) Please visit these links for program information: http://www.omscs.gatech.edu/faq/ & http://www.omscs.gatech.edu/program/ Ms. Mimi Haley is the OMS academic advisor for admitted students; however, all prospective student inquiries should be directed to omscs@cc.gatech.edu
The following is what we recommend for applicants without a CS undergraduate background:
1. Must know how to program
2. C (proficient) | |
3. Java | |
4. Algorithms class | |
You can gain this knowledge through undergrad classes, MOOC or learn it through work experience.
If any remedial coursework is needed, it will be accessed and discussed with you during orientation.
Please visit this Georgia Tech Graduate Studies link to view frequently asked admissions questions (FAQ): http://www.grad.gatech.edu/helpdesk/knowledgebase.php
The College does not offer financial aid to students entering this program. If you need assistance, please contact the Georgia Tech Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid www.finaid.gatech.edu/graduate
Master's students are not promised funding but frequently receive compensation after establishing a good working relationship with a faculty member. Approximately 1/3 of our students have a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) position; however, this is not part of the admissions process. Typically students read the bio’s of faculty and contact the faculty that has research in an area of their interest, and take a special problem (individual research project) CS 8903. This is research for a grade and may lead to GRA. If the professor likes your work and has a GRA opening, they might hire you or recommend you to someone who has an opening.
Best wishes, | |
Judy | |
