Classes to take
Hello Salim and Omar,
My apologies for the problem with sending email to Shayon Saleh
(advisor@cs.stanford.edu). That email address was temporarily disabled due
to spam attacks but should be 'open' again to the world very soon so I
encourage you to try again to contact Shayon.
In the meantime, here are some brief replies to your questions:
Since Omar already has a bachelors degree he'll want to apply to a CS MS
program, not to a CS BS program. If he has some math, and a few CS
courses, on his undergraduate transcript --and received 'A' grades in
those courses-- his application will be considered even through his
undergraduate degree wasn't in CS. If he doesn't have any CS courses on
his transcript he can strengthen his application by taking some
introductory level CS courses at a local community college or through a
local university extension program so that he can present a transcript
with his MS application which contains evidence of his ability to perform
well in CS courses. He'd be best served by taking introductory courses
roughly equivalent to the following Stanford courses:
CS 106A
CS 106B
CS 103
CS 107
Course descriptions for these courses can be found at
http://explorecourses.stanford.edu.
Further course details can be found on the course websites at
http://cs.stanford.edu/courses/schedules/2014-2015.autumn.php
I've attached a pdf document which contains detailed information on our CS
MS program: Foundation courses, Breadth requirement, Specializations, etc.
Information on applying/admission to the CS MS can be found here:
http://cs/education/admissions
General cost estimates can be found here:
https://studentaffairs.stanford.edu/gradadmissions/admitted/financing-expenses
Students typically take two years to complete the degree.
As for distance learning, ours is primarily a full-time, on-campus
program. There is a part-time 'Honors Coop' program available to students
who have been admitted to the CS MS and are employed full-time by SCPD
member companies (Stanford Center for Professional Development). Some
courses are offered remotely each quarter to these HCP students via
streamed lecture videos, but --in general-- only the Systems and AI
specializations may be completed remotely as there are insufficient
courses offered via SCPD in the other specialization areas.
For information on SCPD member companies see:

Best regards,
Claire Stager
