How to stop receiving "prescreened" offers of credit in the mail- for life!

Credit advertising is annoying and a waste of paper. Plus all the exact same deals are available online! Stop those jerks from mailing you for life. Only works in the US. But is probably also only a problem in the US. Capitalism rocks!

  1. Call 1 888 567 8688
  2. Press 3 to "remove your name for life." Five years is also an option, but go hard or go home.
  3. If you are comfortable saying your SSN over the phone, fine. I am not, so I will show you how to proceed without entering an SSN. Fair warning, the process is a little more involved. But I don't like the idea of credit reporting agencies or snoops knowing who I am, as phone calls are not encrypted.
  4. Enter an invalid SSN 3 times: For example "0"
  5. You will then be prompted for a DOB, phone number, name and address
  6. A letter will arrive in the mail asking for your signature that, yes, you don't want spam for the rest of your life. And trust me, you don't
  7. So go ahead and sign it and postmark it back (the jerks won't even pay for return postage so you'll have to buy a stamp yourself)
  8. Boom! Enjoy your life free of idiotic credit deals you could easily find yourself if you wanted them.
