Abstract Report Instructions

Abstract Report Instructions

Preface

This is it. The home stretch. Put it all on the line.

All Savages

Every member of the Six Supreme Savages will be responsible for checking and double-checking each other’s work. This is a two-fold action. This will help you keep your teammates accountable and familiarize you with their material. You’ve heard their speeches already. You should prepare for anything to happen on competition day. Also, if you’re working on the Abstract (Final) file, you must adhere to certain rules:

  • No major or breaking changes.
  • Don’t remove, erase, or modify others’ work without their permission. The only exception to this rule is if you see a critical flaw in the section. At that point, contact us and one of us will look into it.
  • Don’t approve someone’s work halfheartedly. Make sure that you really engage and understand what they’ve put on the paper.
  • Keep your feelings out of it as best you can. Just because someone irritates you doesn’t give you the right to be hyper-critical of their work.

Chelsea

You are responsible for the timeline and the formatting of the cover page. Make sure that both look good and contain the same information requested in the template. If you aren’t sure, look in the folder at the previous year’s abstracts. While they aren’t the prettiest, they do contain the format we need.

Ethan

You’re the Abstract Manager. You’re the last line of defense. I need you to double-check the entire abstract twice and ensure that everything is in its proper place. However, follow the rules listed above.

Jojo

You have Explore Possibilities and as a result, there is a large overlap of information between you and Joel. Please collaborate with him to make sure your information doesn’t conflict. You should be talking about separate things. In this case, you should talk about the Possibilities only. Nothing about the Decision Matrix. “Wind was an option for these reasons. Hydro was an option for these reasons.” Be broad, not vague. Let Joel discuss how those reason played a factor in our decision making.

Afterwards, double down on the presentation. Ensure that no complete sentences are in there.

Joel

You are Jojo’s complement and should be adding emphasis on why we made these decisions. Ensure that you go deeper into ‘why’, since Jojo won’t be covering it all anymore.

Afterwards, double-check the website and make sure it’s ready to go. Maybe add some bits of the abstract on there.

Chinara

You have a good amount of work and we’re not removing it. We just need to focus it. I’ve already discussed your job with you but, if you have further questions, contact me.

Sameer

Write your speech. Please. Contact me once it is written.

Conclusion

You’ve all come very far from where you started. Be proud of yourselves. Now and forever.

To the coaches and parents:

Feel free to add or modify certain assignments. I’m pretty sure I missed stuff. I’m a little frazzled, currently.

Good luck; as always, I’m on comms if you need me.
