Valuation

  • Lack of valuation in trees throughout much of the public.
  • Value is based on canopy size. Check wood mass, and number of trees it takes to replace it.
  • Usually once a tree has 30 in. radius, it was usually worth around 100k DBH

Usually planted around 3” and up.

Location and condition of the tree play into how many trees a larger tree is worth, or better put, a tree that is to be replaced.

20” DBH

  • 20 trees
  • species
  • condition
  • location
  • Equals replacement

Use DBH and species mainly using the species code. Gives roughly an 80 percent estimate of value.

Around 80% are still alive after planting

Concerns

  • Toxicity and Allergens from trees

  • Can we track pruning cycles. When is it next being set to be pruned.

  • What pruning cycle is it on.

  • When are trees being planted and where

  • Planting requests

  • Species diversity - citywide

Common Questions

Pruning questions - scheduled to be pruned, inspected, removed When will it be planted or what is planted next. What species will be planted

Scheduled Pruning: Year and months in that year. Projection

Eucalyptus Wheatgum - branches sometimes capitate and deteriorate. Especially during summer

Typically trees with similar growth patterns and pruning schedules are planted on the same management unit
