Queer Coded
Are you a CS student who identifies as queer and/or trans? Are you interested in joining a student group that lets you connect with others in the queer community? This is your chance to make your voices heard.
Queer Coded is a newly created, student-run, social and support group for queer and/or trans people in the CS department. Our goal is to create a safe, engaging environment, and to provide opportunities for personal and professional development.

Capture the Flag Team Meeting
Interested in learning practical cyber security skills? Join the UBC capture-the-flag (CTF) team, meeting every Tuesday at 6:30pm in ICCS 050. Everyone is invited to attend. Meetings will be an opportunity to learn new skills and techniques, dissect past problems and practice for competitions.

Sauder/Kabam Games Varsity Challenge
Are you interested in mobile gaming analytics and a chance to win $10,000?
UBC Sauder and Kabam Games invite you to participate in the 2019 Varsity Challenge! Kabam is a world leader of developing entertaining and immersive games for mobile devices.

CREATE DAV Program started in 2015 and is supported by NSERC’s Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program (CREATE). The all-expenses-paid undergraduate summer school program includes talks by CREATE DAV faculty and industry experts on cutting-edge interdisciplinary research topics on big data science, as well as York and OCAD U lab tours. The program is designed for undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in the big data science and visualization. York CVR-VISTA Vision Science Summer School - June 3 - 7, 2019
The Centre for Vision Research (CVR) at York University in Toronto offers a one-week, all expenses-paid undergraduate summer school on vision science. The program includes talks by CVR faculty on current research topics in vision science, as well as hands-on experience in CVR laboratories. The curriculum reflects the wide range of research areas at CVR, which includes research on human visual perception, computer vision, machine learning, visual neuroscience, 3D film, immersive environments, and disorders of vision. The program is designed for undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in scientific research. We provide on-campus accommodations, some meals, and cover transportation costs.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarships in Software Engineering
Do you want a scholarship of up to €49,000 for a Masters in Computer Science while studying in 2 EU Countries? The Erasmus Mundus Joint MSc in Advanced Systems Dependability offers students the chance to study at Maynooth University in Ireland, St Andrews in Scotland or University of Lorraine in France on a fully funded Master’s programme, obtaining a Joint MSc at the end of two years. VOLUNTEERING
Image Processing Project Using Python
The Frostad laboratory is developing a new instrument for simulating and tracking digestion of micro-capsules. We are looking for a volunteer to develop image processing algorithms in python using standard image processing libraries. The volunteer will gain valuable hands-on experience in developing code for real-world applications and if successful be a co-author on the resulting publication of the work. Applicants should be comfortable programming in Python 2.7 and be able to devote time to working on the project without detracting from their other coursework. Interested students should email Dr. Frostad at john.frostad@ubc.ca.
