Step 2: Help Us Help You

Please answer the following questions so that Kayt and the rest of the post-grad support staff can most effectively help you in your job search:

  1. What motivates you?
  • Currently I'm motivated to get my first job, in a JS language.
  • Where I can get 1-2yrs experience before moving out of state.
  1. How will you keep yourself going when faced with rejection in the job search?
  • I don't take rejection seriously, but what gets me down is having to travel SOO FAR just for a meetup and not leaving with any leads or networking opportunities. (I live inbetween 2 the major cities with a good distance between either one)
  • I will really need to push past my comfort zone in meeting people when I have the opportunity.
  • I'll have to schedule multiple events in one day if possible.
    • Or really work on the remote connections.
  1. How will you hold yourself accountable to your plans? (Ex: Attend Mod 5, meet with cohortmates, attend Kayt's coffee shop hours, etc.)
  • I'll be over in VA, and honestly it's going to be really challenging not being surrounded in an environment of tech.
    • But I'll need to reach out in my community to see if I can find somewhere local to meet people.
  • Attend Mod 5, Slack call w/ cohort mates
  1. How do you like to communicate?
  • I like blunt, concise, & actionable feedback
  • I'll try my best to improve where I lack
  1. What is your ideal job?
  • I would love to work as a UI/UX engineer
  • Anything Frontend in a JS language would great
  • I like to be able to transition into the role of Design or Project Management
  1. What has been your approach to the job search so far?
  • I haven't had much luck appling directly through LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, etc
  • I'm hoping to really leverage the networking aspect and do lots of warm/cold outreach
  • I plan to attend as many Meetups related to my field as I can
  1. What could you use help with?
  • I really need help with the persistance,
    • I do well one week and it's a rollercoaster from there
  1. Anything else you'd like Kayt to know?
  • I am only looking for jobs with companies within a 1.5hr commute time from Fredericksburg VA
  • Once I am settled out there and am working, I would love to help other students looking in the area to find placement.
  1. If you are not using Huntr, please include a link here to the job tracker you're using so that Kayt can follow along with your progress.
