Among Us - Angels vs. Devils

Among Us - Angels vs. Devils

The concept

A new group is added to the game called "Devils", which have to always tell lies whenever asked questions. The current number of Devils that should be in a game is up for debate, but I'm thinking 1-2 similar to how many Impostors there are. The Devils would still be crewmates in-game, but they are like minions of sorts for the Impostors. Impostors can decide whether to lie or tell the truth depending on what makes more sense in the situation. Switching between lying and telling the truth too often however could lead to the Impostor being found out. If the Impostors win, the Devils win as well. Devils still have to do their tasks but can intentionally fake tasks to draw suspicion and try to get themselves outed as an Impostor.

Depending on how many Impostors and Devils there are, the rest of the players are "Angels" (normal crewmates). Angels always have to tell the truth, they are basically just normal crewmates. Bullshitting and trolling your team are technically not allowed since they are Angels and have to tell the truth.

The Devils do not know who the Impostors are, but they are trying to help the Impostors win. The Impostors also do not know which players are Devils. The same rules about dying and muting your mic still apply. If the Impostors think they know who the Devils are, they can try to keep them alive for help or kill them for whatever reason. It is also undecided if Devils actually should know who the Impostors are, or vice versa. However, too much information known about the other group could make for a bad experience and too easy.

The pros

  • Adds a new role to the game to spice things up
  • Creates an added layer of chaos that could be harder to decipher through and find out who is telling the truth/lying
  • More assistance to Impostors to balance the game in lobbies where the Impostors have a very low win-rate

The cons

  • Not play-tested yet or thoroughly thought through yet
  • Too much chaos can make for a bad user experience
  • Would take an external Discord bot or similar to make work and decide who will be Devils
  • Angels/Devils could ignore the duties of their role
  • Could make it too easy for Impostors to win with the added help

A lot of this still needs thinking through, and it might not be plausible. Any suggestions or comments on this idea are appreciated. I know this is a long read, but I think this could turn into a fun mode if actually thought out well.
