sona time.md

basic info

  • name's wesley but you can call him wes
  • male because what do you expect from cis white scum like myself
  • super-plain golden chubby bear boi
  • canonical age is, and shall forever be, 17 (haha get trolled r34ers (tbh i'd be pretty dang honored if someone wanted to make lewds of my fursona please send if you did))
  • visual age is idk but probably lower than that
  • birthday is december 26th (the day i finished making his first picture (year's 2018), i actually came up with him on the 20th but he didn't have a defined appearance yet so i guess it's like his date of conception?)
  • pan (the superior orientation)
  • he mute (the official-but-not-canon voice is ice bear from we bare bears but not as deadpan)
  • also him can do hologram illusion magic because yes
  • [new!] has a pet gecko named ???, he usually hangs out on wesley's left shoulder, he's sapient but can only communicate with animal noises (which everyone magically understands), not sure what he looks like aside from being a vibrant shade of green (#33cc33?)

  • androgynous (then again it's kinda hard to make smol anthros look like they have a specific gender, why do you think minnie mouse has a ribbon)
  • gold (#eeaa33) - fur
  • 90% white + 10% gold (#fdf7eb) - inner ears, muzzle, belly, tail tip
  • almost black (#222222) - eyes (if line-shaped), nose, mouth, pawpads, skin (pure black works too if you want, i'm not picky about the colors as long as they're close enough)
  • gold 2 (#eecc33) - straw hat, eyes (if with pupils)
  • wears his straw hat sometimes, besides that he naked
  • round ears on top of head, a bit closer together than usual so that the hat fits
  • none hair but if he did have it it would be short and the same color as his hat
  • 'ᴥ'-style eyes as opposed to °ᴥ° or •ᴥ• or OᴥO
  • muzzle doesn't touch edges of face from straight-on view (unlike sonic characters)
  • muzzle sticks out by 2-ish cm (about an inch)
  • paws look pretty much like the ones in we bare bears
  • 5 fingers per handpaw (with opposable thumbs), 5 toes per footpaw
  • no visible claws (they're still there, just hidden)
  • short tail

personality

  • he's perfect in every way and everyone loves him and but he's vEeEeRy clumsy
  • pretty chill and low-key and stuff (i'm thinking of a "bored anime baby dragon girl" aesthetic but i'm not sure if that makes sense)
  • more of a support character than a main one
  • bit of a jokey type (think sitcom but not as much)
  • typical bored teenager haha yes
  • usually pretty quiet (i mean he's mute so obviously he's quiet but if he were to have a voice he probably wouldn't use it that much)
  • tends to follow the rules™ most of the time
  • an adequate friend
  • might have a bit of 4th-wall awareness? your call tbh
  • can play a bit of megalovania on the otamatone (not really a part of personality but idk where else to put this, also it does kinda show what kind of person he is i guess???)

physical traits

  • mute because that way i don't need to bother with dialogue, uses the thing to communicate, also text-to-speech in some cases (like getting people's attention, not getting people's attention due to magic use, doing a funny vocal effect (if given time to prepare), etc.), knows a bit of sign language too but not much beyond "where's the bathroom"
  • can make magical illusions using his brain power (more on that later)
  • also has a bit of hammerspace behind back for real-world matter (and pre-prepared illusions i guess), enough to store 4 books' worth of stuff (only volume matters, not surface area), looks like a one-sided black rift in space-time if you care
  • ALSO also has a low-power shield of normalcy™ (definitely not stolen from phoebe and the unicorn) that makes people not notice the aforementioned abilities if in a non-magical universe
    • they're still gonna notice if the effects are drastic enough so he might wanna limit himself a bit
  • physiologically incapable of farting (note from future me: i have no idea why i put this here but i don't really wanna get rid of it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
  • other standard cartoon logic applies as well (stretchability, suspended aging, comfortable in clothes despite floof, lack of private parts unless the situation demands it, etc.)

the magic system™ (warning: long and useless)

  • teal;deer: he can do an illusion magic, more tangible = more smaller and/or more effort, less tangible = more fuzzy, focus is required to make the thing not fade away, straw hat is also illusion as well
  • the boi can create magical tangible illusions with his mind and also destroy them as well (preferred ways of destruction are the poof and the thanos snap)
  • nobody knows where it came from
  • it's mainly used for communication and/or funnies
  • radius of creationment is about arm's reach but it gets harder the further it gets (also doing it through walls takes a lot of effort too)
  • it works by moving around æther (basically magic but with a fancy name) and condensing it into stuff
    • the more æther in an illusion, the more real it is
      • low-æther illusions are pretty much ghosts, though you do feel a slight shiver while moving through them
      • medium-æthers are tangible, but light and fuzzy (something like a styrofoam blanket), and can be dissipated by s c r o n c h i n g
      • high-æthers are almost indistinguishable from real matter and can even do fancy stuff like temperature conduction
      • there's also talk of super-high-æthers which pretty much are real matter but that'd require a hellalalot of practice for even a coin-sized object (unless the plot demands it, of course)
      • in-between states are possible as well
  • the illusions take some amount of brain power to create, depending on their æther density
    • stats for low-effort illusions:
      • low = quarter-of-a-car-sized (can be unfolded to about elephant-sized)
      • medium = half-of-a-bucket-sized
      • high = half-of-a-fist-sized
    • the values above can be increased by a TON but it's gonna take a whole lotta brain power
    • he can also make stuff hollow to make it take less energy but below 1cm it actually gets harder to make the æther stay there so it balances out
  • when not focused on, illusions slowly dissipate (fade away while becoming less tangible)
    • stats for low-effort illusions:
      • low = 5 seconds
      • medium = 3 minutes
      • high = 1 hour
    • again, more effort = more time
      • trade-offs can be made, for example if he wants his intangible thing to stay for a while he can do that with some effort (so it's kinda hard to make a visual-only thing stay existent for a while without making it denser)
  • illusions make a very slight wooshy noise while being created (like air rushing in/out of a space because that's pretty much what it is), more æther = more woosh
  • low-effort illusions take about 3 seconds to go from non-existent to done (assuming maximum low-effort medium-æther illusion, low-æthers will be way faster and the other way around)
  • illusions are fully opaque unless they have like a really tiny amount of æther in them (or unless it's supposed to be transparent)
  • the default texture is similar to smooth plastic (slightly "fuzzy" depending on amount of æther), it can be changed but it may take some more effort
  • illusions of things like phones don't actually work as the thing they're representing (except for the mythical ultra-high-æthers), the boi can pretend like they do though by manipulating them in real time
    • they still obey gravity though, except for low-æthers (which actually do still obey it but they're light enough that it doesn't really matter)
  • unfamiliar objects take some playing around with to get right
    • more detail = more effort (and more practice required), simple shapes are pretty easy but the complex artwork on dollar bills is very much not so good luck
  • all illusions have a weak sensory field around them, letting the caster feel roughly if/where they're being touched (larger = less sensitive, denser = more)
  • if the caster gets spooked (or gets any other intense sensations) while focusing on an illusion he'll instinctively succ some æther from it, that usually means it gets dissipated
  • motion is possible and takes about 2x as much brain effort as it'd take muscle effort
    • high-æther illusions can generate sound, he could theoretically use this for talking but it'd he really hard to do so nah
  • typical use cases:
    • blackboard as a substitute for talking (floating text is easier (usually lowercase comic sans) but it's only used around friends and acquaintances because the shield of normalcy™ can only do so much)
    • telekinesis
    • whacking people with stop signs (can make the actual sign part have either less or more æther depending on whether actual impact is desired)
    • cosmetic items (the straw hat is actually one of them, it's been around for so long that he doesn't really need to focus on it)
      • expanding on that, FURSUITS (and SKINSUITS)
      • body pillows too maybe but they're gonna look like they were made in ms paint and also feel like fuzzy styrofoam
    • "whispering" by summoning text right in front of one's eyeball (useful for secret missions™)
    • meme impressions
    • extra hands (hard to focus on tho)
    • visualizing flashbacks
    • summoning a folding chair in the middle of nowhere
    • backup keys (if he studies the original for a long while)
    • fake claws
    • getting his limbs out of tight spaces (such as beehives)
    • expand leg and also something else if you know what i mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
    • blanket and pillow for sleeping (some initial effort is required to make it stick around for 8 hours)
    • putting fake gaming headphones around his bear earphones (bëarphones?) so that it doesn't look weird
    • it's time to stop
    • fanning self during summer
    • wings (mostly decorational unless someone figures out how to do antigravity)
    • airhorns/kazoos
    • fake money but very rarely because the patterns are really hard also that's illegal
    • i mean you could use it for sex toys but they'd probably disappear right when you're boutta nut because of the whole "intense sensations" thing and that's pretty lame
