1) Understand the market and your value

* determine market salary range (glassdoor, indeed, linkedin)
2) Know what is important to you
* set your minimum threshold (basic living cost)

* Deal Breakers
* Deal Makers

* ESOP - Employee Stock Option Program
- how many can I buy, what price will I buy at, total number of shares in company, vesting schedule, what happens when I leave?
3) Learn how to make an effective -ASK-
* What are the skills most valuable for this role
* How will this role help the team/manager level up
* What are the contributions this role will make to the team/company
* What is the working style of the project manager - am I alone, working with team, ect
4) Before you make your salary request
* Requirements and responsibilities of job "Id like to talk a bit more about the responsiblities and requiremenys"
* Total compensation/ rewards-
5) After offer letter
* Clarify and dont assume anything
* Ask every applicable question about every one of the things
* Prioritize your ask
* Negotiate with communication method that works best for me
* Get it in writing
* Negotiate early performance review
To Say:
"Thank you very much for the offer, Im thrilled to start ect. I am excited to discuss the details with you,
I was wondering what flexibility you have with the offer"
"I was hoping my salary would be closer to X (buffer high)"
If not salary, "Are you open to discussing X"
