Namescheap PrivateEmail to Google Workspace - Email Migration

Migrate emails from NameCheap PrivateEmail Service to Google Workspace Gmail

  1. Follow the section called "Migrate from IMAP-based webmail providers" here
  2. Confusion usually revolves around what the "Role Account" is for NameCheap. In my experience, we found success by using the account we want to transfer mail from.
    • Example:
      • PrivateEmail Acount: account1@customdomain.com
      • PrivateEmail Account Password: something987
      • Google Workspace Account: account1@customdomain.com
      • Google Workspace Account Password: something123
    • What would do is use the IMAP server mail.privateemail.com for the "Connection Protocol" section of the data migration tool.
    • Then for the "role account" you would use the PrivateEmail Acount and PrivateEmail Acount Password of the emails you want to migrate.
  3. Then when authentication is successful, click the "Add User" button.
    • Here you will utilize the PrivateEmail Acount as the "Source Email" and PrivateEmail Acount Password.
    • Then your Google Workspace Email will be your Google Workspace Account.
  4. Then when migration is complete, "Exit Migration" and repeat for the next user.
