You (Grass Roots Turf Products) are hiring me (Stephen Smith) to design and develop a web application to work with the Google Coordinate tool for $25/hour, with a maximum total price of $750 as outlined in our previous correspondence. A down payment of $100 will be required before work commences.
You: You have the authority to enter into this contract on behalf of yourself, your company or your organization. You’ll give me everything I need to complete the project as and when and in the format I need it. You’ll review my work, provide feedback and approval in a timely manner too. Deadlines work two ways, so you’ll also be bound by dates we set together. You also agree to stick to the payment schedule set out at the end of this contract.
Me: I have the experience and ability to do everything I’ve agreed with you and I’ll do it all in a professional and timely manner. I’ll endeavour to meet every deadline that’s set and on top of that I'll maintain the confidentiality of everything you give me. An hourly breakdown of my activities will be provided, along with status updates at major milestones.
Application: A web based application to batch-load delivery jobs into the Google Coordinate task management system. This will be a script which processes a standardized CSV (provided by you) into the Google Coordinate API.
Programming: The application will be programmed into a basic HTML5 form for WordPress hosted on GoDaddy. Supporting scripts will be developed using a scripting language to be determined.
Delivery: The application will be delivered to you for you to deploy on your website.
Revisions: All concepts will be reviewed by you and go through a maximum of 2 major rounds of changes. Changes past 2 rounds will be billed at $25/hr in 15 minute increments.
I will deliver web pages developed from HTML5 markup, CSS2.1 + 3 stylesheets. Javascript is used where appropriate.
Browser testing no longer means attempting to make a website look the same in browsers of different capabilities or on devices with different size screens. It does mean ensuring that a person’s experience of a design should be appropriate to the capabilities of a browser or device.
I test my work in current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Microsoft (Internet Explorer), and Mozilla Firefox.
This application is being developed for the desktop environment only. Mobile compatibility is not guaranteed.
I will make sure that the code works when it is deployed. If simple issues arise after our contract is complete I may decide to help out on a case by case basis.
Any problem requiring significant changes to the application will probably not be done for free. For example, I'm not responsible for my application malfunctioning due to changes in the format of the CSV file.
I can’t guarantee that my work will be error-free and so I can’t be liable to you or any third-party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages, even if you’ve advised me of them. Finally, if any provision of this contract shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this contract and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
When your final payment has cleared, copyright will be automatically assigned as follows:
You’ll own the visual elements that I create for this project. I’ll give you source files and finished files and you should keep them somewhere safe as I'm not required to keep a copy. You own all elements of text, images and data you provided, unless someone else owns them.
Down payment: $100 due on date this contract is signed Final payment: $25 for each hour worked on the project due before delivery
Concept Proposal: 1 week after contract signed Working Draft: 2 weeks after concept proposal feedback received Final Draft: 1 week after working draft review received
These dates are pessimistic estimates and may be updated if needed. Its quite possible the project finishes ahead of schedule. A detailed explanation will be given for any issues causing a delay that arise.
