Extensions and Emotes

Here are the recommended extensions to watch streams on YouTube:

  • Truffle - It will make the YouTube chat look and behave more like Twitch chat.
  • BetterTTV - Since the 7TV extension is currently not working with YouTube, BTTV is the next best option.
  • Tampermonkey - This is needed to fix an issue with the BetterTTV extension where it wouldn't load the 7TV channel emotes.

Installing these extensions should be straightforward, once you have done that, follow the steps below.

Truffle

Right after you install Truffle, it will ask you to login and setup your username (click here if it doesn't), make sure you login with your YouTube account.
If you want to also connect your Twitch account to Truffle, you can go here to do that.

If you ended up doing the first time login with your Twitch account, make sure to go in the link above and also connect your YouTube account.

Following CHUBBYLAND on Truffle

Once you are logged in, go to any video or livestream on Hachu's YouTube channel and move your mouse to the left edge of the page and you should see Truffle's sidebar show up with Hachu's channel in it.
Click on Hachu's channel and at the bottom you will see an option to follow CHUBBYLAND.

Channel points

Truffle adds a channel points system to livestreams, you can see the points and a button to claim new points (every 5 minutes) on the right side of the subscribe button under the livestream video.

Right now channel points don't really have a use, but Truffle is working on adding features where the points can be used, like a shop and predictions.

BetterTTV

Right after you install BetterTTV it will ask if you want to enable support for YouTube chat, make sure you click on Enable for YouTube.
If you miss the prompt and it doesn't work, just reinstall the extension and it should ask again.

After that, go to any YouTube livestream that has a chat enabled, click the 3 dots at the top right of chat, select BetterTTV Settings and enable 7TV emotes at the bottom.

While you are there, check if you want to change any other settings.
For example, enabling the Emote Menu and Auto Live Chat View.

Tampermonkey

After you install Tampermonkey, click here to install the userscript that will make 7TV channel emotes work.
This will only fix the 7TV channel emotes on Hachu's YouTube chat.

If the userscript was installed correctly, when you open the YouTube chat, you will see a red icon show up on top of the Tampermonkey icon in your browser toolbar.

Trying it out

That should be it, if there is a scheduled stream in Hachu's YouTube channel you can try out everything here: https://www.youtube.com/@hachubby/live
