A manifesto on what to expect from the Korashurans of Sarradar.

On Korashur

First, let me be perfectly clear; I do not hate or fear the people of Korashur, and have neither been particularly wronged by said people or their society. No, this text is a dispassionate warning to anyone who would interact or draw the attention of members of Korashuran society.

As I do not hate or fear Korashur, neither should you; both these emotions cloud the mind and leave you open to exploitation. What you should be, however is uncompromisingly aware, that at any given time, you may be a pawn in their endless quest for power.

Understand, Korashuran society is set up specifically to cultivate a particular brand of callous and selfish evil. The only goal in Korashur is to be the most powerful mage, ruling over all the rest, no matter the cost to anyone concerned. If for one moment that you think that this is untrue, you are naiive beyond reckoning and either are almost certainly caught in one of their schemes already, or have never heard of Korashur. Hyperbole aside, there are no lengths beyond risking their own safety that a Korashuran will not go to in their hunger for power.

Now, this is not to say that Korashurans are in any way intrinsically superior to anyone else; their reliance on and unflinching trust in magic often makes them lazy and over-confident; their schemes involving far more artifice than is necessary, simply so that they can feel superior for having constructed them. No, the only reason to treat them with as much respect and care as is possible, is the risk of not doing so, and being laid bare to a scheme you dismissed.

Truly, the highest cost of being a pawn in one of their schemes is not simply your life, or even the lives of everyone you hold dear, but your very soul. Remember, this is a society founded on magic, and as such, the price you could pay for your part in one of their schemes, will result in any and all parts of you being used in an ingredient of a spell. Do not even think that being consumed as a reagent will give you any peace, as you may be bound forever in torment, your pain fuelling their rise to power, or even as trivial a thing as their reading light.
