Destiny 2’s The Dawning is back for the zillionth time, but finally, there are some genuinely interesting rolls worth farming on some of the weapons, thanks to one new one and some perks put onto old ones.
As such, as you collect Spirit and cookie dust and whatever other materials I’m forgetting about, here are the ones I would specifically go for this time around, and some of their best rolls. I’ve already done Glaciochasm, but I’m going to re-do it for this list here.
// Stay Frosty (pve)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] This is last year’s weapon, and it’s…fine. Enlightened Action/Headstone is pretty fun in PvE, though there are probably better Headstone Pulse Rifles. tags:pve

// Stay Frosty (pvp)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] This is last year’s weapon, and it’s…fine. Crucible, Moving Target/Kill Clip, I suppose, but I do not think this is going to be anyone’s main there. tags:pvp

// Zephyr (pve)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] Take your pick of column one and then Cold Steel, given that this is the only sword that can roll it. It can also run normal boring sword combos like Relentless Strikes/Whirlwind Blade, like you don’t already have ten swords with that. tags:pve

// Albedo Wing (pve)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] This is this season’s new weapon, the second heavy-hitting aggressive glaive in the game besides that Season of the Seraph one you can’t get anymore unless Banshee sells it. Bungie advertised that it can roll with the new tracking perk Beacon Rounds. Except that sucks on glaives. Trust me, it’s not worth it at all, and it doesn’t synergize with the melee.
But what does? My pick here for the best roll is Grave Robber/Close to Melee. These synergize extremely well, given the focus on melee but also the ability to refill the ranged shots on melee kill to trigger Close to Melee in the first place. Other than that? Nope, can’t really say I care much about other rolls, though some may like something paired with Demolitionist (which does not work on melee kills). tags:pve

// Glacioclasm (god-pve)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] Do you want a Void Eremite? Well, here you go. Glaciochasm has now been given the perk Controlled Burst, and it can also get Overflow, which means a ton of sustained, high-impact damage for bosses, and synergy with a void build. tags:god-pve

// Glacioclasm (pvp)

//notes: [Paul Tassi] For PvP, the old roll of Under Pressure/High Impact Reserves is still there. Though you could also do Under Pressure/Eye of the Storm or Fragile Focus as well. Or, Slideshot is a first column option too. tags:pvp

// Avalanche (god-pve)

// Avalanche (pve)
//notes: [Paul Tassi] You know, this might be the overall most interesting option given how many different good perk combos you can get on it. Want to clear mobs? Subsistence/Incandescent is going to be a blast, pun intended. For sustained damage, that would be Rewind Rounds/Target Lock or Vorpal, I’m not quite sure which is better after Target Lock’s recent nerf (though Vorpal got nerfed a while ago too). But Rewind on an MG like this is very, very good. If you hate reloading altogether, then perhaps Auto-Loading/Target Lock or Vorpal instead. There’s also synergy with a Stats for All/One for All to clear mobs as well. But wait! Incandescent procs Stats for All, so that could be fun. But Subsistence is probably better. As I said, a lot of choices for this one. tags:pve
