Theory: How the problem started | |
=============================== | |
I think I played in offline mode the first time through day five, thus getting the token in my save file but not getting it on steam. | |
Steps take to solve the issue | |
============================= | |
First | |
----- | |
Restart steam in online mode. Start papers please. Reload save at day five. Collect token. | |
Didn't work. | |
Second | |
------ | |
Restart steam in online mode. Start papers please. Start new game. Progress to day five. Collect token. | |
Didn't work. | |
Third | |
----- | |
Restart steam. Disable cloud storage for papers please. Reload save at day five. Collect token. | |
Didn't work. | |
Fourth | |
------ | |
Restart steam. Enable cloud storage again. Reload save at day five. Collect token. | |
Didn't work. | |
Notes | |
===== | |
* I always start Papers Please in windowed mode. I haven't tested fullscreen. Should I? | |
* I have gotten the Obristan and Impor achievements. | |
* The achievement is supposed to trigger right when you receive the token, right? The others did. | |
* When speeding through Day 5 over and over again I just stamp passports randomly. That shouldn't matter, right? |
Removing local game data through steam and reinstalling game doesn't help either. Next up, remove save data folder and retry.
Removing save data folder and starting from scratch solved it.

I should add that I have tried getting this achievement every day since buying the game on august 8. I don't think its a temporary steam issue - though you'd be the the better judge on that.
