My Melee Timed Practice Routine, inspired by Leffen's Routine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhZbPqqS5k0
  • Make sure to structure your practice around what you need to work on. You can cut segments shorter, or out completely if necessary to make more time.

  • Things we are missing:

    • January 2021
      • [[January 7th, 2021]]
        • Not super consistent on shorthop L-Cancels, specially while moving
        • Full jump aerials probably shouldn't be done hitting eggs, we end up mixing up too many short hops, which already have their own practice section
        • Pivot grabs
        • Movement is a bit sloppy
        • FD Chaingrab vs spacies is inconsistent still, grind that out

        • 91% accuracy in L cancel training when trying to hit a barrel
        • Dropping FD chaingrab, also we spam up when we throw, we should probably get rid of that habit and instead learn the proper timings
        • Wavelanding on ground from jump has a heavy early timing bias
  • Timer in game:

    • 9:00 -> 1 hour 30 mins
    • 6 -> 1 hour
    • 3 - > 30 minutes
    • 2 -> 20 minutes
    • 1 -> 10 minutes
  • Routine:

    1. Warm up, move around, short hop, full jump, wavedash, dash dance, and whatever comes to mind. See what I seem to miss at the moment. Once warmed up practice precise, simple movement around the stage, making sure to move the character the exact way I want.
    2. Short hop aerials. Go through each of them step by step (Nair, Dair, Nair, Fair, Uair). Make sure to practice double aerials, retreating, approaching, shield stop.
      • Eventually you can work your way up to hitting specific marks on the ground, to ensure movement up to the aerial is smooth
    3. Full jump, and double jump aerials. Same as previous, visualize juggles, and catching people on platforms. Practice aerials from the platforms as well as shield drops.
    4. Ground moves - Running Dtilt, Jab, Fsmash, dash attack, grab, pivot grab, shield stop grab, pivots, etc
    5. Dash Dance/Wavedash as well as moving around the platforms. Imagine escapes, and moving to the right position.
      • Eventually you can try to always CC with C Stick.
    6. Follow the same, but start adding attacks/shield and mix it up a bit. Make sure transitions, and pace changes are fluid.
    7. Ledge options. Refresh invulnerability, ledge dash, land on ledge and grab. Practice going to ledge, different sweet spots.
    8. Practice fundamental combo starters, and kill setups while making as few mistakes as possible
      • You can use Combo Mode in UnclePunch for this to grind spacie chaingrabs for example.
      • Otherwise you could fight a level 1 CPU. Just make sure to focus on specific options without autopiloting into hitting the machine.
    9. Tech we're working on - Currently: Wave landing from jump on ground
    10. Thing I've been missing recently, or whatever I feel is fun to practice right now. Currently: Pivots
