What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy has played an important role in my life both professionally and in my personal life. While I was in the Navy, it was very important to understand where people were coming from when they made requests and/or complaints about the workplace. I was in charge of a work center that dealt with roughly 75 people a day. Each of those people had their own lives and issues that they had to deal with in order to make it to work on time and perform their required tasks. When issues would arise, it was important that I was able to hear their issues and understand where they were coming from so I would be able to make an informed decision on how to proceed. In my personal life, my significant other, Abby, deserves the respect of my full attention when she is speaking to me. What is the value of a checklist? (I do not think you wanted this answered)

To me, the importance of a checklist is underrated. It helps keep me organized, reminds me of tasks, and allows me to see the progress I have made for any given assignment. When I am using a checklist I feel organized. I can clearly see the tasks that need attention right in front of me. I also like the organization of putting the checklist in a specific order so I can finish tasks in the order I would like them completed. The reminder of tasks is also huge for me. When I am working very hard on certain things, like tasks in a checklist, it could be easy for me to forget what I have and have not completed since my attention has been on the task at hand. Having the checklist lets me go back and review what I have completed, and just as important, what I have NOT completed. Lastly, checklists let me know the progress I have made. When I am budgeting out time to complete tasks I am able to compartmentalize the time I have with the w
