My mom made these when we were kids, and they were so good. She got the recipe from her mom, Doris, and she could bake! These have always been a good source of comfort and nostalgia for me.

3/4 cup Crisco

1 cup Sugar

1/4 cup Molasses

1 Egg

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

2 cups flour
- Melt Crisco and cool
- Add sugar, molasses, and egg and beat well
- Sift dry ingredients
- Add to creamed mixtur and mix well
- Chill dough
- Make into 1" balls
- Roll into sugar
- Press flat with bottom of a glass
- Bake at 375°F for 8 minutes on a greased cookie sheet
These taste great with hot coffee / tea or cold milk. They make your house smell like Christmas. 🎄😀
