Montreal

Eat

  1. Depanneur le Pick Up: great pulled pork and vegetarian friendly in little italy
  2. Aux Vivres: is a vegetarian restaurant
  3. Moishes: one of the better steakhouses in montreal
  4. Shwartz's: the famous smoked meat spot
  5. St.Viateur or Fairmont bagel: little bit of a rivalry between these two bagel spots, really they taste the same and are equally good.
  6. Bistro Lustucru. Nice restaurant on Laurier that is worth it for their raw bar. I suggest you dine only with their raw bar menu, and share 4-6 options with someone else to be able to taste as much as possible.
  7. Leméac. Fancy French restaurant, but they have a more affordable menu after 10pm, and it's totally worth the wait!
  8. Frites Alors! I think this is the best poutine in Montreal. They have several locations, but the closest to you would be their restaurant on St-Laurent. Their fries are Belgian-style fries fried in duck fat. The place that has the official title of best poutine in town though is La Banquise, which is also worth trying.
  9. Au Pied de Cochon on Duluth. You have to reserve well in advance for this restaurant. It's a bit pricey, but they have a section of their menu that is all about foie gras. You have to try their Foie Gras poutine!! It's best shared, otherwise it's too heavy.
  10. Tuck Shop. A really nice restaurant, food was amazing.
  11. La Banquise. POUTINE.
  12. Lawrence Restaurant. Lawrence is by far my favourite brunch spot of the three - but it is the most expensive. Here you can find amazing english breakfasts and unique breakfast options. Their coffee is my favourite (they serve 49th parallell), but they only take reservations for parties of 6 or above. What I generally do is get there aroudn 9:30 and grab a coffee from Cafe Sardine (right beside it) and wait in line with my coffee for 10AM. The service is great and you have to try their donuts - they are heavenly. Also if you have vegan friends, they have a vegan surprise that isn't on the menu but you can ask for it. Prices for breafkast would be around 20-30$ (including an order of scones and donuts) 5201 BLVD. ST. LAURENT
  13. Faberge. Faberge rocks (best chicken and waffles in the area) but service is slow. 25 Avenue Fairmount Ouest
  14. Sparrow. Sparrow is pretty rad, they have awesome red velvet waffles, but I'd honestly rather go there for drinks with friends. It's a wicked bar. 5322 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
  15. Nouveau Palais. amazing cheap brunch, open until 3 AM and serves a mean drunk burger. 281 Rue Bernard Ouest
  16. Maison Publique. great brunch and dinner, co-owned by Jamie Oliver. 4720 Marquette
  17. L'Anecdote. Haven't tried it but it looks like a solid new burger spot in the Plateau. 801 Rue Rachel E
  18. Elena. This Italian restaurant in Saint Henri has gotten some great reviews. 5090 Notre Dame Ouest
  19. Cafe Denise. Casual spot for happy hour/food in Mile Ex, 386 Beaumont Ave
  20. Loïc. Bar a vin in Saint Henri. Bistro with great food, wine list and patio. 5001 Notre-Dame St W
  21. Kazuu. Great Japanese place with vegetarian options, but they only have like 4 tables so you need to get there really early since they don't take reservations. 1862 Saint-Catherine St W.
  22. Bocadillo. On St Laurent, delicious arepas. 3677 St Laurent Blvd
  23. Patati Patata Friterie de Luxe. Beloved diner. Poutine and burger spot, unbeatable late night eats. 4177 St Laurent Blvd
  24. El Rey del Taco. In Jean-Talon Market, great taqueria. 232 Jean Talon St E
  25. Ta Chido Snack-bar. Great spot for Mexican food, margaritas and desserts. 5611 Park Ave
  26. Boxermans. Casual spot in Outremont for brunch or dinner. 1041 Ave Van Horne
  27. Larry's. Delicious coffee, small plates and wine around the corner from Lawrence, every single day 8am to 1am. 9 Fairmount Ave. E
  28. Dandy - in Old Montreal. Small plates, brunch/lunch, natural wines.

Drink

  1. Réservoir. Draft microbrews, tapas & a rooftop patio. 9 Avenue Duluth E
  2. Apt. 200 - has a bunch of arcade games, they call it a "barcade"
  3. La Buvette chez Simone. It's a wine bar that is best for the "5 à 7"/after work drinks. It can get really crowded but the wine is good.
  4. La Distillerie. Bar that serves cocktails in mason jars. Several locations across the city, this one in the Plateau is currently open as of July '21.
  5. Waverly. Mile end bar. 5550 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
  6. Pullman on Parc is another very nice wine bar, but unlike La Buvette chez Simone, you need to go there late at night if you don't want it to be completely empty and dull.
  7. Dieu du Ciel. Well known brewery whose bottles you'll often find on beer lists internationally. Great patio. 29 Laurier Ave
  8. Sparrow. X-posted from "Eat". 5322 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
  9. Bar Henrietta. "A hip lounge for drinks & nibbles." 115 Avenue Laurier O
  10. Le Darling. Open 8am-3am, coffee by day and beer/cider by night. 4328 St Laurent Blvd
  11. Brasserie Harricana. Brewpub with craft beer options & gourmet comfort eats in Little Italy. 95 Rue Jean-Talon O

Coffee/Dessert

  1. Dispatch - locations in the Plateau and Little Italy. Excellent coffee.
  2. Pi Café - is a cool chess cafe
  3. Myriad Café (downtown)
  4. Café faberge
  5. Paquebot Mont-Royal
  6. Juliette et Chocolat on Laurier. All the Juliette et Chocolat locations are amazing, In the summer, you have to get their fruit smoothies, and in the winter, you have to get their Grand crus. Go-to place for desserts.
  7. Café Nevé. Arguably one of the best coffees in town. I think the one that has the official title is Café Myriade, near Concordia, but it's a bit far from your place.
  8. Place Milton. Near McGill. Same kind of food as Future Bakery. There are a lot of nice cafes in the immediate area.
  9. Café Lézard on Masson. Not as well-known as other cafés just because it's a bit far East, but it's really really good.
  10. Chez Mamie Clafoutis. French pastries. For real. The person who contributed this tip's best friend is from Paris and she elected it the best pastries in Montreal.
  11. De Farine et d'Eau Fraîche. Awesome café with wonderful pâtisserie.
  12. Café Olimpico. "Montreal's Best Cafe" aka a spacious Italian cafe in Mile End. 124 Rue Saint Viateur O
  13. Coop Le Cagibi. Coffee, no-meat menu and late-night drinks/live music in Little Italy. 6596 St Laurent Blvd
  14. Boulangerie Cheskie. Bakery featuring a variety of Jewish kosher pastries, cakes & other goods. Impossible to choose wrong from their selection. 359 Rue Bernard Ouest

Miscellaneous

  1. Quiz nights at Chez Baptiste on Masson. I don't know how your French is, but if you are fluent, those always make for fun casual nights.
  2. La Petite Place. Karaoke bar in La Petite-Patrie. 521 Rue Bélanger RIP </3
