Natural Disasters:

History of Thrust and Megathrust earthquakes

  • point data and radius of effect (does magnitude have associated radius?)
  • Seismic Activity? Livestream from somewhere monitoring online?

History of Floods in Mexico

  • Raster surface showing former incidents of flood? SRTM data to show lowland elevations more prone to flooding?

History of Hurricanes

  • show historical paths and extrapolate general high risk areas based on more common corrodors.
  • both atlantic and pacific hurricanes

Mexican Fire Season

  • Use NDVI analysis to determine high risk areas. Potentially difference areas of high vegetation in the wet season and look for the highest change come dry season. This may prove useful as an indicator of fuel capacity.
  • Understand general wind directions (Look at hadley cells?) to look at potential fire spread patterns from high risk site origins.

Volcanos/Volcano fields

Mudslides/Landslides

Extreme Temperature

  • Weather station data.

Drought

  • Rain information from weather stations and inter-station interpolations?
