Fix for Folding@Home (v.7.5.1) Protein Viewer FAHViewer on Windows

With the recent demand in using Folding@Home to combat COVID19, many have noticed the Protein Viewer does not work in Windows with (v7.5.1). This is a temporary fix to get the viewer working using an older version of the FAHViewer from version (v7.4.4)

Note

Bare in mind, the viewer only works for CPU Work Units.

Steps to install:

1. Download the FAHViewer.exe and freetype6.dll files from version (7.4.4) here:

a) Find fah-installer_7.4.4_x86.exe on internet, open .exe with 7zip to extract the above files. (DO NOT INSTALL OLD VERSION)

b) I have extracted the files and place them in my google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12Ya7Sxsv161BFIrsbqgz9bySwKJKkXIH?usp=sharing

2. Find local FAHClient (v7.5.1) installed directory. Mine was C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient
3. Move and replace the FAHViewer.exe and freetype6.dll into the root of that directory. (FAHViewer.exe will be asked to be replaced)
4. (optional) Untick 'Run as Administrator' in the file properties of FAHViewer.exe
5. Wait for a CPU WU to come in and watch in awe!

These steps are what work for me. Thanks.

"Bare in mind, the viewer only works for CPU Work Units." may be too broad; I'm seeing a work unit for project 14310, that uses core 21, which by my understanding targets GPU, and in Task Manager indicates FahCore_21.exe does use GPU, in FahViewer 7.4.4. (Have to press "]" to change from slots.) Perhaps there are some more details you can provide?

just wanted to thank you for the partial fix but screen saver is now only thing bugged not showing the updated stuff

regchanuk have you tried getting the screensaver from 7.4.4 and using it in 7.5.1? I will try some time in the next few days and post a follow up comment.
