Service objects contain business logic with an interface that is easy to test.
View > Controller > Model, but sometimes need other data, i.e. from an API

I simply copied and pasted it from another location and saved it as a personal note, before it gained popularity on news.ycombinator.com. Use case: Database entries are represented in a table. By grabbing and moving a row up or down the table, you can change the entries' order/position. The changes are submitted automatically via ajax.
