Explain to an alien how to make a PBJ Sandwich

#Alien Sandwich A numbered list of instructions for explaining to an alien how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich

###Collect and define items needed to make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

  • "PBJ-sandwich" = Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich (the thing we will be making)
  • "pb-jar" = the cylindrical object in front of you containing a brown substance
  • "jelly-jar" = the cylindrical object in front of you containing a red substance
  • "plate" = the flat white object in front of you
  • "bread-loaf" = the brown, rectangle-shaped thing in front of you that is soft to the touch
  • "knife" = the narrow, silver-colored thing in front you with one side that is sharp to the touch. The side that is not sharp is the side you grasp. The knife can be used for two purposes: cutting and spreading. When used for cutting, grasp the knife and face the sharp part downward. When used for spreading, grasp the knife and and turn the knife so that the sharp part is horizontal.

###Cut two slices of bread and place on the plate

  1. Grasp the Knife in a cutting grasp and hold it out above the table.
  2. Grasp the bread-loaf and place it on the table, such that it is directly below the knife.
  3. Position the bread-loaf such that it is perpendicular to the cutting edge of the knife and move the bread-loaf laterally until only a half inch is below the knife.
  4. Press the knife down on the bread-loaf, ensuring that only the sharp edge of the knife comes in contact with the bread-loaf.
  5. While continuing to press down on the bread-lof, rapidly move the knife toward and away from you without the knife edge going outside the boundaries of the bread loaf. Continue this motion until a piece of the bread loaf has become completely detached from the bread loaf.
  6. The piece that has become detached is a "bread-slice"
  7. The part of the bread-slice that is facing upward is the "top of the slice"
  8. Move the bread-slice onto the plate.
  9. IF there are no slices on the plate, this is the "pb-slice"
  10. ELSE this is the "jelly-slice"
  11. Repeat these steps once more, then continue to the next step.

###Remove the lids from the peanut butter and jelly jars

  1. Grasp the PB-jar.
  2. With one hand, grasp the jar along the center of the cylindrical portion.
  3. With the other hand, Grasp the top portion of the jar.
  4. While holding the jar in place, turn the top portion of the jar counter-clockwise while also trying to lift upward. Continue turning ontil the top portion becomes separated from the rest of the jar.
  5. The portion that has been removed is the "PB-Jar-Lid"
  6. Repeat this action for the Jelly-jar.
  7. The portion of the Jelly-jar that is removed is the "Jelly-jar-lid"
  8. Set aside both the lids.

###Remove Peanut Butter or Jelly from a jar

  1. Grasp the knife using a spreading grasp
  2. Grasp the PB-jar.
  3. Insert the sharp side of the knife diagonally into the top of the pb-jar until it becomes slightly submerged in the contents inside the jar.
  4. Twist the knife so that its side is horizontal and slowly lift it straight upward.
  5. If, after the knife has been lifted above the contents of the jar, some contents of the jar remains on the knife, continue, else repeat this step.

###Spread Peanut Butter or Jelly Onto Bread Slices

  1. If you have just finished removing contents from the pb-jar, move the knife above the pb-slice.
  2. ELSE IF move the knife above the jelly-slice.
  3. Flip the knife.
  4. Holding the knife in a spreading grasp.
  5. With the surface of the knife just above the slice of bread, move the knife slowly from one side of the slice to the other, beginning with the side that is furthest from you and moving toward the side that is closest to you, until you reach the edge of the slice.
  6. IF the slice is not covered with the substance from the jar from which it was taken, repeat the steps in "Remove Peanut Butter or Jelly from a jar" and the repeat the steps Spread Peanut Butter or Jelly Onto a Bread Slice
  7. Repeat these steps until both the pb-slice and jelly-slice are evenly covered.
  8. Then continue to the next step.

###Flip and place the jelly slice on top of the peanut butter slice

  1. Grasp the jelly-slice with both hands, holding it at the opposite edges.
  2. Move the jelly-slice on top of the pb-slice.
  3. Rotate the slice until four corner of the jelly-slice are directly on top of the pb-slice.
  4. Flip the jelly-slice.
  5. Move the jelly-slice down until it comes in contact with the pb-slice, then press lightly downward, then let go.
  6. This object is now called pb-jelly-slices

###Cut the two slices in half diagonally 7. Grasp the knife with a cutting grasp. 8. Hold the pb-jelly-slices in place. 9. Place the sharp edge of the knife at a corner that is on the opposite side of the sandwich from where you are, such that the sharp edge is facing the opposite diagonal of the sandwich. 10. Press the sharp edge downward and move it in a slight upward and downward motion. 11. As the sandwich begins to separate into two pieces, move the knife toward the opposite corner of the sandwich. 12. Continue this activity until you have reached the opposite end of the pb-jelly-slices have separated into two pieces. 13. The two pieces you have created are the PBJ-Sandwich.

Congratulations, Alien, you've just made a PBJ!

These instructions could be simplified by switched to pre-sliced bread inputs.

This should be a repo so issues can be opened.
