simple scones, not too sweet, eat with jam

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup butter cut in small pieces
  • 0.75 cup milk (used coconut milk, but heavy cream is probably traditional)

Directions

  • Mix up all the dry ingredients
  • cut up butter and mix in to the dry ingredients, mix with hands / fork so that they're roughly 1/4" size pieces
  • Add in milk, form into a loose shaggy dough, could be crumbly, form into a disc ~ 1/2" tall on a surface with parchment paper
  • Stick it in the freezer for ~20 mins, preheat oven to 425
  • Cut, brush with milk or a mixed egg
  • Bake ~18 minutes, or until browned
