Job Description
McMaster University Library seeks an innovative, self-directed, technologically agile and student-centred librarian to support its teaching and learning initiatives. The individual will help design, deliver and promote a wide variety of information literacy programs, services and resources to enhance student academic success. She/he will work across a wide variety of disciplines.
The Learning Support Librarian will report to the Associate University Librarian (Library Services) and will work in close collaboration with the Learning Support Coordinator and other colleagues involved in the teaching and learning programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Learning Support Coordinator to create and deliver information literacy sessions and workshops to enhance student academic success. The program consists of a variety of face-to-face, online and blended sessions.
Assist with the development and integration of multimedia library content into new online courses. Assist with embedding of content into D2L (course management system).
Incorporate sound pedagogical practices (including active learning) into all learning programs, services or resources.
Create innovative instructional materials to support faculty and student learning needs.
Seek out opportunities to apply and promote new and emerging technologies in teaching and learning.
Assist with the assessment of learning programs, services and resources.
Monitor the Wong e-Classroom for technology and other issues.
Deliver research consultations as required.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent
0 - 2 years experience with or strong aptitude for teaching
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills; strong service orientation
Deep understanding of and experience using a variety of online resources
Strong knowledge of current & emerging technologies within a teaching & learning environment
Flexibility and initiative
Ability to work independently and collegially
Hours of Work:
This is a 12-month contractually limited position working full-time 35 hours per week.

Additional Details:
It is anticipated that this appointment will be made at the Librarian Level I rank with an annual salary range of $48,456 - $78655.
This position is included in the McMaster University Academic Librarians’ Association bargaining unit.
