Scrum (an agile method) as practiced by MyUW
Provide a brief overview of your session. Include the topic, objectives and format. (This text will be used as the program description, 200 word limit).
Explanation of Scrum (an agile method) as practiced by the UW-Madison MyUW Infrastructure team.
Agile methods offer one path to more productive engagement between information technologists and the university constituents they serve. Short iterations and a commitment to frequently delivering potentially shippable software help focus on feasible solutions, demonstrable progress in solving business problems, and enabling stakeholder needs (rather than purely technology) to drive tradeoffs in determining "is it good enough to ship yet?"
30 minute presentation; 15 minutes questions.
Session takeaways - what might people learn or be able to do as a result of attending your session? (200 word limit)
Session attendees will gain one more example for understanding the potential of agile methods, and one more contact for learning more and continuing to compare notes on how we practice higher education IT.
Topics touched upon will include:
What does it mean to be agile and to practice Scrum? What might happen if you do?
How does an agile team work within the wider university context?
