Certain events this year will be held under our new ruleset, which we have been working on for at least the next five minutes, which defines a brand new combat/character building system that we feel can bring even more realism to Live Action Play than any system before it.

You may have noticed our new acronym. Idle Speculation takes the view that one of the most important thing stopping "LARP" or even its lesser sibling "LRP" from being accepted by the general public - and if you don't believe it's not accepted by the general public, you should see the small village we were run out of with ACTUAL FLAMING PITCHFORKS last week - is that it involves too many people poncing about pretending to be people or things that they're not.

Our new proposed system gets rid of all that sodding prancing about pretending to be magic users or whatever, and takes the game back to its roots, its basics, the things everybody wants to do: Go to a field, sit in lawn chairs drinking beer, get up to hit each other with foam swords every now and again, and return to our lawn chairs.

Combat's simple, you bash the other guy with a foam sword. If he can feel it, he loses a hit point. If his armour's good enough, he didn't feel it, and you should hit him harder. Or her, should she have found armour to fit. Fuckit, whatever pronoun they prefer, if they can feel your sword hit, they've lost a hit point.

In fact, hit points? One step from fuckin' fireballs, if you ask me. Nah, you get hit with a fuckin sword? You're fucked, mate. If you can feel it, fall over.

Healing? yeah, that'll make fighting easier. Tell you what, if you can show us a doctor's certficate, or a nurse's, or some kind of thing like that, you can get people back up to fight. Show us a first aider's cert and and you can keep them alive until a doctor arrives. No doctor before you get bored of waiting? Dead. Go roll up another character, don't even need a new name!

When you've killed the lot of them, back to the camp, job's good.

We're advancing the system a few years, beer cans are fine, deckchairs are good. Grab a drink and next fight's in an hour or so.

That good?
