iCloud Troubleshooting Guide

iCloud Troubleshooting Guide

#Requirements

  • iOS: MindNode touch 2.2+ on iOS 6+
  • Mac: MindNode Pro 1.8 on OS X 10.7. Due to Apple's licensing terms iCloud support is only available in the Mac App Store version.

#Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure you are signed into the same iCloud account on all your devices.
  2. Verify that "Documents & Data" is enabled in the iCloud settings.
    • OS X: System Preferences > iCloud > Documents & Data
    • iOS: Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data
  3. Make sure you are connected to a WiFi network or "Use Cellular Data" in the iCloud settings is enabled (this setting is iOS only).
  4. Restart your device to relaunch the iCloud process on your device (sometimes it can get stuck):
    • OS X:  > Restart…
    • iOS: Hold the power button (top edge) until the shutdown slider appears and slide it. After the shutdown, hold the power button again to start the device.
  5. Check the iCloud System Status page to learn of any iCloud service issues.
  6. On iOS verify that MindNode uses iCloud:
    • On the documents screen press the gear icon (lower right corner).
    • In the iCloud Section enable "Use iCloud".
  7. On the Mac make sure you are using the Mac App Store version of MindNode Pro.
  8. Remove all MobileMe accounts you have configured in the device.
  9. Verify that the correct time is set on your device (incorrect time settings will cause iCloud to reject the connection).
  10. Make sure that you are not behind a firewall that blocks incoming or outgoing iCloud traffic (also applies to utilities like Little Snitch, TCPBlock, etc…).

#Advanced Troubleshooting

  1. On the Mac you can access local copies of your documents using Finder:
    • Go > Go to Folder…
    • Paste in: /Library/Mobile Documents/W6L39UYL6ZcommindnodeMindNode/Documents
  2. Reset the iCloud Container. Warning: this will delete all documents of all iCloud enabled apps that haven't been sync to the iCloud server!
    • Disable iCloud on your device in Settings (iOS) or System Preferences (Mac) by turning of "Document & Data".
    • Restart your device.
    • Enabled "Document & Data".
    • On iOS: Start MindNode touch and enable "Use iCloud"
