En plus, avec la coupe du monde, c'était presque d'actualité de parler des hymnes nationaux.
Donc pour l'occasion, je me permets un petit peu de patriotisme

Donc, petits rappels pour les personnes qui ne saurait pas d’où vient la Belgique: après la conquête de la Gaule par Jules César et son \externalLink{« de tous les peuples de la Gaule, les Belges sont les plus braves »}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horum\_omnium\_fortissimi\_sunt\_Belgae} (et ne prenons pas la grosse tête, il s'agissait clairement de propagande), la \externalLink{\textit{Provincia Belgica}}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaule\_belgique} est alors un territoire qui contient une partie de la Belgique actuelle, mais aussi le nord de la France. Suite aux invasions barbares et à la chute de l'Empire romain d'occident, la région est ensuite royaume franc, puis un de ces nombreux territoires partagés à la mort des différents rois qui suivent.
La Belgique est finalement rattachée aux Pays-Bas vers le 15\textsuperscript{e} siècle (du coup, les gens de l'époque parlent parfois de Pays-Bas \textit{du nord} et \externalLink{\textit{du sud}}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pays-Bas\_m\%C3\%A9ridionaux}). L'ensemble est alors parfois nommé \externalLink{Leo Belgicus}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion\_belgique} (sauf que les Pays-Bas \textit{du nord} finissent ensuite par obtenir leur indépendance). Le territoire belge est donc d'abord sous domination espagnole (du 15\textsuperscript{e} au 18\textsuperscript{e} siècle, via les Habsbourg) puis autrichienne (via les Habsbourg, toujours, au 18\textsuperscript{e} siècle). Et pendant tout ce temps \externalLink{la principauté de Liège}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principaut\%C3\%A9\_de\_Li\%C3\%A8ge} \textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:1}} (dirigée par un prince-évêque depuis le 10\textsuperscript{e} siècle) reste indépendante et ne fais pas partie de ces Pays-Bas. D'autant que le regroupement dit des Pays-Bas se cachait beaucoup de petits états locaux avec leurs propres lois (ainsi qu'un certain nombre d'enclaves).

La suite (vers la fin du 18\textsuperscript{e} siècle) est en partie liée à l'histoire de France et à sa révolution\textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:2}}, puisque se déclarent à la même période des révolutions dans la région "Belge", d'une part avec la \externalLink{révolution liégeoise}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/R\%C3\%A9volution\_li\%C3\%A9geoise} (signant la fin de la principauté de Liège), d'autre part avec la \externalLink{révolution brabançonne}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/R\%C3\%A9volution\_braban\%C3\%A7onne}. Ceci dit, autant la première semble proche des idéaux de la révolution française, la seconde est principalement une contestation du pouvoir et des réformes (de Joseph II) dans les Pays-Bas autrichiens, qui auraient sinon conduit à une centralisation du pouvoir exercé dans la région depuis Vienne. Cette dernière révolution conduit même à la création d'une confédération connue sous le nom \externalLink{d'états Belgique unis}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/\%C3\%89tats\_belgiques\_unis}, ceci dit fragilisée par des tensions opposant conservateurs (catholiques) et libéraux, ce qui fait que cette confédération ne survit qu'un an avant le retour de l'Autriche au pouvoir (qui en profite pour "libérer" la principauté de Liège de la révolution et replacer le prince-évêque sur le trône). Il semblerait ceci dit que c'est à partir de cette période que le qualificatif Belgique s'impose pour désigner les habitants des Pays-Bas autrichiens (sans Liège, encore une fois). \externalLink{Puis la France débarque en 1792}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/P\%C3\%A9riode\_fran\%C3\%A7aise\_de\_l\%27histoire\_de\_Belgique} et met les Autrichiens dehors (deux fois), pour finalement réunir tout le monde (dont les Liégeois) dans l'empire français, en \externalLink{9 départements dits "réunis"}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/D\%C3\%A9partements\_r\%C3\%A9unis}, qui sont assez proches des provinces belges actuelles.

Au départ, c'est le drapeau français qui est utilisé par les émeutiers, mais une milice bourgeoise, qui est créée pour rétablir l'ordre (non pas pour contrer la révolution, mais pour contenir les émeutes), arbore les couleurs noir-jaune-rouge de ce qui deviendra le \externalLink{drapeau belge}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drapeau\_de\_la\_Belgique} (qui auraient été inspirées par des couleurs employées durant la révolution brabançonne citée plus haut). Par la suite, d'autres villes suivent l'exemple et la répression s'organise (avec, par exemple, l’envoi de troupes à Bruxelles pour contrer une éventuelle attaque néerlandophone). Une délégation, en possession d'une liste de revendications (principalement une séparation administrative entre la Hollande et la Belgique), est envoyée à \externalLink{Guillaume I d'Orange}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume\_Ier\_(roi\_des\_Pays-Bas)} (roi des Pays-Bas) début septembre, mais celui-ci ne veut rien entendre. Fin septembre (le 23, pour être précis), l'armée hollandaise tente alors une entrée dans Bruxelles, mais elle est contenue par une assez forte résistance de la population (on dit que les femmes balançaient des objets par les fenêtres) et l'installation de barricades dans le parc de Bruxelles. L'armée se replie dans la nuit du 26 au 27 septembre 1830\textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:5}}.
Le roi tente alors de faire marche arrière et d'accepter les revendications belges, mais il est trop tard: l'indépendance est proclamée le 4 octobre\textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:6}}. Entre temps, des combats ont été gagnés par les révolutionnaires (aidés par des changements de camp de la part des soldats de l'armée) dans d'autres villes et certains continuent durant le mois d'octobre, par exemple à Anvers (ou un bombardement de la part de l'armée hollandaise finit de fâcher définitivement les Belges avec les Pays-Bas).

Le droit des peuples à disposer d'eux même, OK. Par contre, pour qu'un pays existe réellement, il faut qu'il soit reconnu par ces pairs. Les Pays-Bas appellent à l'aide les grandes puissances (sans résultats au final) et de l'autre côté, on passe à côté d'une annexion française. Par ailleurs, ayant choisi une monarchie constitutionnelle, la Belgique doit se doter d'un roi. Sont successivement proposée Guillaume II des Pays-Bas (fils de Guillaume I), Louis d'Orléans (un prince français, donc) et puis finalement \externalLink{Léopold de Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/L\%C3\%A9opold\_Ier\_(roi\_des\_Belges)} (d'abord prince consort du trône d'Angleterre, empêché par la mort de sa femme, puis prétendant au trône de Grèce, mais qu'il finit par refuser), qui n'accepte de régner que si un compromis international est trouvé (au niveau de la reconnaissance de la Belgique en tant qu'état et la question de ses frontières, entre autres).
Finalement, \externalLink{le traité des XVIII articles}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trait\%C3\%A9\_des\_XVIII\_articles} consacre l'indépendance de la Belgique (et sa neutralité, utilisée en 1914 à la suite de l'invasion allemande). Le roi prête serment le 21 juillet 1831, date choisie plus tard (en 1890) pour devenir \externalLink{la fête nationale belge}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/F\%C3\%AAte\_nationale\_belge} en lieu et place du 27 septembre. Pour la petite histoire, l'indépendance de la Belgique n'est reconnue que quelques années plus tard (en 1839) par les Pays-Bas par le traité ... \externalLink{des XXIV articles}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trait\%C3\%A9\_des\_XXIV\_articles}: il y a eu discussion sur le découpage du Limbourg et le Duché du Luxembourg (qui gagnera son indépendance plus tard et qui est alors rattaché à la Hollande) et le partage de la dette entre la Belgique et les Pays-Bas.

Tout comme c'est le drapeau français qui est d'abord utilisé, les révolutionnaires entonnent tout naturellement la Marseillaise (et d'autres chants révolutionnaires français) en août 1830. Mais l'acteur \externalLink{Hypolite Louis Alexandre Dechet (dit Jenneval)}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenneval} (Lyonnais de naissance, monté en Belgique suite à la révolution de juillet) compose une première version de la Brabançonne, alors juste un poème paru dans un journal bruxellois, et qui n'est ... Pas encore tout à fait indépendantiste (voir un peu pro hollandaise), comme en témoigne par exemple le deuxième couplet:

En effet, cette première version n'est qu'une mise en garde envers le roi de Hollande (de la maison d'Orange et de la dynastie Nassau), et pour le compositeur, un compromis avec la Hollande est encore possible (opinion qui était encore populaire fin août 1830). Une seconde version, aux paroles similaires, est mise en musique par un certain \externalLink{François Van Campenhout}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran\%C3\%A7ois\_Van\_Campenhout} (il semblerait qu'il y ait eu inspiration d'une chanson connue de l'époque, l'air \externalLink{des lanciers polonais}{https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ-twXkwF9k}). La mise en garde est explicite:

Mais l'invasion hollandaise dans Bruxelles fin septembre amène Jenneval à modifier la chanson pour quelque chose de beaucoup plus guerrier et moins aimable pour le roi de Hollande. D'ailleurs, le premier couplet se veut explicitement une réponse à celui présenté ci-dessus:

Jenneval meurt quelques semaines plus tard en défendant la Belgique contre les Pays-Bas, près d'Anvers\textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:7}}. Bien plus tard, en 1860, la Brabançonne est finalement modifiée par le Premier ministre de l'époque \externalLink{Charle Rogier}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles\_Rogier} pour l'adoucir et y enlever les références aux Pays-Bas, avec laquelle la Belgique est finalement en paix (et le restera). De cette version finale, on retiendra le dernier couplet:

Pourquoi le dernier couplet ? Parce que \sout{puisque la Belgique est un petit pays, donc son hymne national aussi et} une circulaire du 8 août 1921 décrète que seule cette dernière strophe est officielle\textsuperscript{\ref{footnote:8}}. Par contre, même s'il semble court comme ça, sa taille est en fait multipliée par 3, puisque 3 langues nationales : le texte est donc traduit dans les 3 langues officielles (et encore une fois, même si une traduction complète existe, seule la traduction de la dernière strophe est officielle). Je vous laisse donc apprécier ça dans les 3 langues (chantée par \externalLink{Helmut Lotti}{https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmut\_Lotti}), avec les sous-titres pour les plus motivés d’entre vous:

Ce petit exercice très drôle m'a au final permis de (re)découvrir l'histoire de mon Pays (dont certains détails m'avaient échappés), ainsi que de découvrir celle de la Brabançonne (que je ne connaissais pas du tout).
