I could have made arbitrary group name the default, of better compatibility w/ 8.x instances, but this is more of a 'do no harm' way of having things be immediately live in production

Wrap your products definition over multiple lines for readability:

products = {"Adium" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.Adium",
                   "AdobeAIR" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.AdobeAIR",
                   "AdobeFlashPlayer" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.FlashPlayerExtractPackage",
                   "AdobeReader" : "com.googlecode.autopkg.pkg.AdobeReader",
                   "AutoPkg" : "com.github.autopkg.autopkg",
                   "BBEdit" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.BBEdit",
                   "TextWrangler" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.TextWrangler",
                   "Cyberduck" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.Cyberduck",
                   "GoogleChrome" : "com.github.autopkg.pkg.googlechrome",

etc.
This also allow you to easily comment out specific products.

Didn't realize commenting out would work within a dict, thanks for pointing out the inherent value of that.
