Events and city tips

Visiting with kids?

  • City Portal Tips for families
  • Naturbad Maria Einsiedel. Nice outdoor naturbad with central location. Built at the Isar. It is possible to rent deck chairs for €3/day. Several ways to get there with Öffi. Bus 135 might be the most convenient.
  • Tierpark Hellabrunn. The Zoo. Very popular family destination.
  • (Day trip) Germany longest Sommerrodelbahn! Blombergbahn
  • (Day trip/half day/Bad weather day activity) Therme Erding Erlebnisbad. The X-Treme Fazer will accelerate a person to 72km/h!

Culture

Classic Biergarten

  • Augustinerkeller at Arnulfstraße
    • At it's best when you can sit in the garden
  • Augistiner Schützengarten
    • A personal favorite, just south of the city center. S-Bahn takes you there in 5-7min.
  • Waldwirtschaft
    • The best biergarten in München? Tradition lives in WaWi. S-Bahn south, 8 stops and then 10min walk.
  • ... but there is no shortage. Just avoid Hofbrauhaus and you will be fine. :-)

Beer bars/"German craft beer scene"

  • Frisches Bier
  • The place I have been to the most in Munich. So good! Fränkische "tapas". Excellent Helles. Close to Haubtbahnhof. Bar Bufet
    • Café Kosmos next door is also nice

Bars/Cocktails

  • My favorite for cocktails and ambience Golden bar (at the back of the building)
  • The most classic Munich bar? Chic. Schumann's Bar
  • Cozy "hole in the wall" burbon blues bar. Zum Wolf
    • Start with a Corpse Reviver, then browse the menu for more.
    • No seats left at the Wolf? Then just walk around the corner to München 72
  • "Secret" Retro twenties hideaway "Barroom"
    • No mobile phones!
    • Eight seats
    • Amazing ambience
    • Close to Rosenheimer Platz
  • Another classic destination is Pusser's
    • Never dissapoints!
    • Start with the Navy Grog and take if from there.
