Title: Open Roads
##The issue Improving road network data is foundational for effective national, regional, and local infrastructures. They offer access to several important landmarks that include schools, clinics, and much more. The lack of quality road data for policy makers and government officials can be problematic when it comes to making big decisions about road development for a region.
We partnered with the World Bank to build a set of road analytic tools that allows the Philippine government to map roads, be able to maintain data on current networks, visualize project investment opportunities, and provide important road insights for decision makers.
The new dashboard gives a breakdown of road network information that includes: road completeness, map errors detected, road projects, condition, and responsibility. The tool is meant to give users a real time measure of what's been mapped and encourage network accuracy across all regions.
Part of our build also includes a comprehensive map on all the road assets in the region. By building on open tools like iD, an editor for OpenStreetMap, users will be able to review, validate, and enhance road and project maps across the Philippines.
While road mapping data was available, the information was fragmented without clear incentives for government agencies to contrbiute their data. Buildling our platform on OSM as a collaborative tool enables government agencies to work under one tool that has the ability to aggregate the spread of available data.
