Copy and paste into terminal:
echo "This is example.txt" > example.txt
cat example.txt
ln -s example.txt symlink.txt
cat example.txt
cat symlink.txt
echo "UPDATED" >> example.txt
cat example.txt
cat symlink.txt
When it runs, it will look like this:
$ echo "This is example.txt" > example.txt
$ cat example.txt
This is example.txt
$ ln -s example.txt symlink.txt
$ cat example.txt
This is example.txt
$ cat symlink.txt
This is example.txt
$ echo "UPDATED" >> example.txt
$ cat example.txt
This is example.txt
UPDATED
$ cat symlink.txt
This is example.txt
UPDATED
When you look at the contents of symlink.txt, it will always be the contents of example.txt - even if example.txt changes.
